Pamilerin thought she was just doing her father a favour when she agreed to work as the King's temporary secretary. She did not expect to fall for him in the process. Despite his arrogant and cocky nature, the closer Pamilerin gets to him, the more she realizes that she never wants to leave his side. But King Adegabe has a secret. A secret he's kept hidden for years. And it just might tear them, and the kingdom, apart.

"Your highness, it's been five years since your wife died. Please, won't you reconsider taking another wife?" Adebayo asks his friend and king. King Alexander Adegbade values the opinion of his childhood friend, but this matter is a sore subject for him. Yet, he knows deep down that he cannot continue to push it aside.
"You know, my friend, that there is no respect for a king without a queen, and it's not like you are short of options. Just find time to get to know one and settle down with her," he advises.
King Alexander paces around in his office, considering what Adebayo is telling him. He fiddles with the pen he is holding, deep in thought. After a while, he saunters back to his seat opposite his friend. Adebayo studies the king as he moves around deep in thought. To someone meeting the king for the first time or who is not close to him, he would look and sound intimidating. Adebayo is the complete opposite of his friend and king in looks and nature. On the short side, dark in skin tone, with a receding hairline, he may not be as handsome as his friend, but he makes up for this with his intelligence. Alexander recognized this in him at the tender age of nine when they first met in boarding school and became friends.
Alexander, on the other hand, is tall and blessed with looks that make women fall all over themselves for him. But in their thirty years of friendship, he has never felt like his looks made him different, nor the fact that he will become king someday. It even made their bond stronger.
But now the handsome face is scarred. A long deep mark runs down beneath his right eye, reaching all the way to his jawline, making him look more formidable. It's permanent evidence of the accident that claimed the life of his wife and unborn child.
"I'm worried about you. It's time for you to move on. You deserve it."
"I hear you and understand your worries, but as you know, I have been preoccupied with state affairs. Even so, I understand you and agree with what you've said. I will look into it, I promise. That aside, how is the water project going...?" he replies calmly, changing the subject.
Adebayo gives him his report, pretending not to notice that he has shifted the conversation away from his love life. He decides to take the matter up himself. It's time for his king to find a new wife.
