Hazel's POV.
Walking down the aisle with my hands tightened around my flower, my eyes remained fixed on just one person, Christopher Brooks, my husband-to-be, who was standing right on the stage.
His focus was fixed on me too, and there was no way I could take my eyes off him. A smile instantly curled up across my lips as I spoke to him.
It was my wedding day—the day I would get married to my lover and best friend. We've been dating for seven years now, and there was no doubt that Christopher loved me to the core.
The second I got to the altar, a heavy sigh left my lips as I stood before him, my eyes peering into his through the veil that covered my face.
He walked up close to me, and without a single smile on his face, which was odd, he rolled off the veil from my face slowly and held my hands tightly in his.
I felt so blessed standing before him. I have always wanted this, and it was coming to reality. My only regret at this point was the fact that my mother wasn't present to witness me get married to Christopher Brooks.
“Let's begin!” Christopher commanded, and instantly, a man putting on a white garment walked closer to where I stood with Christopher.
“Do you, Miss. Hazel Blair, daughter of Mr. Blair and heir to Blair Company, take Mr. Christopher as your lawfully wed husband?” He asked, and without hesitation, I responded.
"Yes, I do!” One could hear the excitement tingling in my voice at this point.
“Do you, Mr. Brooks Christopher, Deputy Manager of the Brooks Company, take Miss Hazel as your wife?” The man asked, and just then, I turned to look at Christopher with a smile.
He wasn't still smiling, and from how he stared at me, I couldn't help but feel worried. He had never looked at me with such disgust before, and it made me sick to the stomach.
“Mr. Brooks, we are...” the man was going to say, seeing that Christopher had kept silent all this time, but before he could finish his statement, Christopher cut in.
“I DON'T!!!”
The second he made the most shocking statement, he threw my hand out of his and took three steps backward and away from me. Immediately, everyone that was present began to mumble amongst themselves.
“Chris, what are you doing? This …” I was going to say, trying to reach where he stood, but like I was a pandemic, Chris shifted backward again. The anger he suddenly felt was evident on his face.
“Don't you dare come closer, slut! I should have known!” he stated, making me more confused.
“What? Slut?” My eyes squinted as I gasped, my head hovering all over the place, trying to understand his statement.
“What do you mean, Chris? I love you, and this isn't the plan!” I stuttered, holding my flowers in my grip tighter than I had done before.
“The plan? Well, this wasn't the plan until you pushed me, Hazel! You pushed me into replacing you!” He said, and just immediately, Violet's voice boomed through the crowd.
“He's right, sister... You are just a mess!”
I swiftly turned to my left, and that was when I saw Violet, my stepsister, in her red skimpy gown with her hair packed in a ponytail, climbing the stage and walking in our direction.
“What's this all about, Chris?” I turned back to my lover as I questioned her. For some reason, I felt nothing but fear of what might unfold before my eyes.
“Show her, Violet!” Chris snapped the second my stepsister got closer to where we stood.
“You should have known better than to sleep with someone who isn't Chris!” She said as she tossed countless pictures to me and to the crowd.
Everyone had their own copies, and from what I saw, I couldn't help but swallow nervously. I was entangled with a different man in the picture, and even worse, I was naked.
With trembling hands, I reached for the pictures on the ground, my head spinning all over the place. I couldn't tell when it was because I had never been with any other man except Chris, and I was carrying his child.
“Does that answer your questions?” Violet sneered as she chimed in, folding her arms around her chest.
“This can't be true; this isn't me! Christopher, you have to believe me!” I asserted, lifting my moist eyes in his direction.
“Not you? You've got to be kidding me right now, Hazel! If that isn't you, then who is? Let me ask you... Where were you on my birthday? And I need nothing but the truth, Hazel!” He questioned him, sliding his hands into his pockets.
“I was with you, Chris! I remembered clearly that... I was going to keep defending myself, but just then, Chris stormed closer to me, each step echoing his fury as he slapped me so hard on the face, making me fall to the ground immediately.
“Ah!” I cried out as I cradled my cheek, which stung with nothing but pain, fear, and humiliation. I looked around the crowd, and it was obvious they all saw me as a slut. They mocked and criticized me.
“I bet Mr. Brooks' money isn't enough for her!” One of them said it was so audible.
“She should hide her face in shame! A slut!” Another said.
Just then, Chris walked over to where I was on the ground, tears trickling down my cheeks as I stared at the picture on the ground.
“I was drunk that night and was taken back to the room by Violet, Hazel! I waited for you to return all night, but you didn't! You were never with me!” He stated this as he looked down at me.
“I have never been touched by another man, Chris! It's just you and I. I was going to tell him about my pregnancy for him when, just then, Violet charged towards me and kicked me harshly on my tummy.
“No!!” I cried out as I collapsed to the ground, clutching my tummy tightly. ‘My baby' I mumbled as pain struck every cord in my veins. I wished to explain, but Chris wouldn't let me, and because Violet was by his side, I bet there was no way he would listen to me.
“You cheated on Chris, Hazel, and now he is mine!” Violet suddenly declared, making me snap my gaze towards her.
Christopher walked up to her, and just then, he curled his arms around her waist. “She's right, Hazel! The wedding has been canceled! Violet is to be my bride!” He declared, shattering my heart into a million pieces.
“You can't do this to me, Chris! We've been together for seven years! Don't give it up because of her! Can't you see it, Chris? She has deceived you! She has lied to you!” I asserted, anger evident in my tone as I tried to make a point, but I guess it was over; it was too late now.
Chris walked up to me, and with his hand gripping my neck, he lifted me up and leaned closer to my face.
“She isn't like you, Hazel! She's the best thing that has ever happened to me, and guess what? She has my child!” He snarled, a smirk on his lips, before he pushed me away from his grip, making me fall to the ground again.
“What?” I exclaimed, trying not to believe his words.
“Security!” Violet called out, and immediately they rushed towards where I was sitting.
“Take her out of here and lock her up! We wouldn't want a slut ruining our wedding ceremony!” She said as she walked over to Christopher and kissed him on his lips before everyone.
“You still love me, Chris! I know it! Don't let her deceive you!” I tried begging, but Christopher didn't listen to me.
I was lifted from the ground in my wedding gown and dragged out of the hall, the criticism from the crowd making me feel utterly useless.
If there was anything I imagined, it definitely wasn't my stepsister taking my place on my wedding day.

Hazel's POV.
Nine months later...
“Why are you still keeping me here, Violet? Haven't you had your own share of fun? Let me go! It's not like I'll take Christopher away from you!” I begged as I knelt down on the ground.
I had been locked up in an unknown house after the crisis at my wedding, and when Violet came over to see me, she would always make me think less of myself.
My stomach was already big, and in no time, I would give birth to my child. There was definitely no way I was going to be safe giving birth in such a place. I needed to leave, but Violet wasn't willing to do that.
“I will keep you here for as long as I want, Sister. Besides, it was Christopher's idea to lock you up and not mine!” She said this, folding her arms across her chest and right above her big tummy. She was pregnant too, and she was due soon.
“Christopher would never do that to me!” I stared clearly, tightening my fist as I responded harshly to her.
“You still think he loves you? Trust me, bitch, he doesn't! Not even a spec of love! He hates you, and you disgust him!” She asserted, trying to convince me, but there was just no way I could believe her. Not now, not ever.
“That's a big lie!” I shook my head, tears trickling down my eyes. “He loves me! He really does!” I whispered as I sat down on the cold, unforgiving floor.
“Believe what you want, Hazel. I just came to inform you that your mom is dead and you caused it.” Violet made the most shocking statement ever to me, and immediately, I froze.
“My mom? You are joking right now, right?” I quivered at her news.
“She deserved it.” Violet uttered, and without hesitation, she turned around. She was going to leave the room, but at this point, I couldn't watch her leave.
Without hesitation, I stood to my feet and grabbed her hand tightly.
“You killed her, didn't you? You and your mother! You all killed her! You…” I was going to keep yelling in pain when, unfortunately, Violet pushed me away, making me fall to the ground so hard that my back collided with the hard wall, sending pain through my spine.
“Ahhh!” I cried out immediately and clutched my stomach. An intense and enraging pain engulfed me, and that was when I knew it was coming. I was about to give birth.
“Ahhhh!!!! My baby! My… baby!” I cried out, my grip around my tummy tightening as I twirled on the ground.
“Exactly what I was waiting for!” Violet smiled happily as she walked up to me. “Come in, nurses!” She commanded, and two girls rushed into the room.
“No! No one is touching my baby! No one!” I cried bitterly, shaking my head as I tried to crawl away from them, but it was just impossible.
“You either die with your child or let me save the baby! You were never going to be a good mother anyway." Violet uttered it as she scoffed.
Immediately, the nurses got a hold of me, and no matter how I tried to free myself from them, it wasn't possible. They dragged me to the corner where I would give birth, right on the ground. It was one painful feeling, but at this point, I couldn't run away anymore; all that mattered was getting my child out of my body.
“Push now!” Violet commanded the second they opened my legs widely. With full force and my last energy, I yelled at the top of my lungs, pushing with all my might.
“Ahhh!!!!” I cried out, events of the past reflecting in my head as I wished for nothing but to save my child.
Soon, the cries of a baby filled the room, and I was too weak to see clearly. My vision became blurry, and sweat filled my face as my hair clung to my face. I tried to catch my breath too.
The nurses carried my child, and without looking at me, they handed my baby over to Violet.
“You've done well, Hazel... At least this time, no one would know that I didn't give birth to Christopher's child.” Violet uttered, making me cry bitterly.
“My baby!” I mumbled, lifting my hands and trying to reach my baby in Violet's grip.
“It's a boy, Hazel, and that's all you need to know; I promise to treat him well too,” she scoffed before turning away from me.
“No! Please, give me my baby! My baby!” I wailed. My cries echoed through the room, but it was as if no one could hear me. Blood gushed from my body in thick, uncontrollable streams, staining the floor and mixing with my tears.
Just then, Violet stormed into the room, her face a mask of ruthless determination. She turned sharply and, with a cold sneer, issued her command. “Burn this place to the ground! She can’t get out! Christopher will tear us apart if she survives!” She slammed the door with a forceful bang, leaving me alone in the suffocating silence.
The men, their faces set with grim resolve, began their dreadful task. Flames licked at the corners of the room, creeping closer to me with every passing second. The smoke thickened, swirling around me as I remained helpless, engulfed in a sea of pain and regret.
In the midst of the chaos, just when I thought I had lost everything, a new, excruciating agony seized me. It felt as though I was reliving the torment of labor, as if my baby was still fighting to be born despite everything. The sensation was so intense, so raw, it felt as if my very soul was being torn apart.
“Ahhh!!!!” I screamed, my voice mingling with the roar of the flames and the crackling of the burning debris.
