Amelia's POV.
Something terrible was about to happen. I could literally feel it.
My eyes widened as I saw the alpha take a deep breath in. I knew better than to imagine he was taking that breath for nothing. My heart was pounding against my chest as my mind went too far.
“You will be sent as a bride to Alpha Klaus of Silvercrest pack, you are our gift to him since he has already signed the peace treaty. A war would have broken out if he didn't,” the alpha of my pack, Tyler said.
“A bride?” I asked him. My jaw dropped when my brain finally analyzed his message. I thought he had wanted me to clean the ballroom or arrange all the chairs in the dining room.
But marriage was definitely not what was on my mind.
“I am sorry alpha, but I can't be mated to someone I do not love. I view love as a big thing, Alpha.”
Tyler's stern expression softened for a moment. "Amelia, this is not a choice. It's for the sake of our pack, for peace. We can't afford a war, especially when Alpha Klaus has shown goodwill by signing the treaty."
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "I understand the need for peace, Alpha. But marriage is a sacred bond. I can't enter it without genuine feelings. It wouldn't be fair to me or Alpha Klaus."
The alpha sighed, his gaze unwavering. "This is a sacrifice for the greater good. I know it's not ideal, but sometimes we must put the pack above personal desires. Consider the bigger picture, Amelia."
I know he was trying his best not to lash out at me, I can even see the twitch in his eyes. He seemed to look like he was having a hard time staying with me in the same room, let alone not hitting me for refusing his request.
“I would love to, but alpha you always told me that even as an omega I should have the freedom of choice and the alpha you intend to send me to is ruthless, so I have heard” I said with all the courage I had gathered. I had hoped my reasons were good enough for him to disagree with this.
It's not news to anyone who lived in our pack to not know about alpha Klaus. He was a beast. A living, breathing, killing machine. The rumors I had heard said he was young, wild and cold hearted. He has managed to bring himself to the highest rank possible with his number of massacres and slaughter, if the demon wrath was a human it would be him.
And they have intended for me to marry him? Never.
I looked at Alpha Tyler who seemed to consider my words, I could only cross my fingers.
“Do you think I care?” He said.
I raised an eyebrow. “What?”
Alpha Tyler scoffed, “Do you think I give a damn about you at this moment? I am battling to keep my pack safe from the vampires and our enemies and you are whining like some pig!”
Hearing him, I felt tears building in my eyes.
But then again, why was I surprised? What was I thinking? I am so pathetic to think the alpha would give two cents about me.
In a pack filled with betas and strong werewolves, I was the only weak omega in the pack. The scapegoat. The one with no family, no life. What had I expected?
“Alpha…” my eyes pleaded, but he was quick to respond with a stare that could end my generation.
I swallowed hard and wanted to say something.
"If you dare say another word, you would be losing a tongue, and you know I mean my threats." Alpha Tyler's voice was cold, cutting through the tension in the room.
I bit my lip, holding back the words that were fighting to escape. The pack members around us shifted uncomfortably, avoiding eye contact as if my predicament was contagious.
"Alpha, I... I just..." My voice trembled, and I hesitated, aware of the consequences.
"Silence, Omega," he barked, his eyes narrowing. "You really are stubborn. You're here for a purpose, and it's not to voice your opinions. Remember your place."
I lowered my gaze, feeling the weight of my status. “Get your things and get ready to leave. Luckily the alpha has requested your presence as soon as possible and I would not want to delay him”
He walked over to the door, then he paused and turned back, “I know how stubborn you are Amelia, so don't dare me”then he left.
I didn't know what to do anymore as I tried my best to hold the tears back, I left the room away from the oppressive gaze of the fellow pack members.
I was an omega with nothing to her name, a maid in the pack house, a girl who had heard my parents died from a rogue attack when I was just a child. They said I had come from a rare line of werewolves, ones who could breathe fire and ice. Stronger than most werewolves.
But what was I? Nothing. The only fire I can make is the one when cooking for the alpha family. And for fourteen years, I've endured constant humiliations and hurt from everyone.
I blamed my family for not living long enough, for being warriors rather than just simple people, maybe they wouldn't have died.
I sighed, feeling used. I was walking down the dark trail towards the maid quarters lost in thoughts.
“What are you thinking about?” A voice said, catching me off gthoughts.
I whipped my head behind me and saw my friend, Martha.
She smiled, “You look so lost in thoughts as if someone had taken your morning meal”
I couldn't help but laugh. Martha was the only friend I had known. She was my best friend, we grew up in the orphanage together, both omegas and maids. I flashed her a soft smile.
“Martha…I was thinking…how about you and I ran away.”
"Huh?"
My friend stared at me blankly. It seemed that the question was too sudden for her. It was sudden for me as well, but it had come into my head, and I was ready to seize this moment.
“We don't have anything here, Martha. Let's run away and never come back. Do you think we can do that?”
Martha burst into laughter, a sound that echoed through the empty woods where we sat. "Are you serious, Amelia? Run away? You must be crazy!"
I frowned, hurt by her laughter. "Do I look like I am crazy, Martha? I'm serious. We can start fresh somewhere, away from all this pack drama."
She stopped laughing and studied my face. "Amelia, running away won't solve our problems. Where would we go? How would we fight the alpha ? We'd be hunted down like rogues."
I bit my lip, realizing the weight of her words. "I just... I thought maybe we could find a place where we could be free, away from the expectations and rules. Isn't that tempting?"
Martha sighed, a mix of sympathy and concern in her eyes. "Amelia, I get it, but we can't outrun our reality. Let's think this through. Running away might not be the solution we're looking for.”
She was right. We were just omegas, useless to the world, we can't do anything about it.
“I heard the news,” Martha said the closer we got to the maid quarters. “What are you going to do?” Martha said.
I shrugged my shoulders. “I…do not know”

I woke up to a lash on my back. The pain seared through me, and I winced, trying to make sense of my surroundings. The dimly lit room hinted at a dungeon-like atmosphere, and the scent of dampness hung heavy in the air.
"Get up, Omega," a harsh voice commanded, and I struggled to my feet, my body protesting each movement.
“Luna…please…I…” I couldn't form the words. Tears rolled down my eyes and even down my shirt. This was what I get for waking up too late before the chores.
More whips!
I watched the silver chain burn into my flesh as I felt its grip tighten on me with each pull. I tried to free myself, but my legs were bound, chained with silver too. The more I struggled, the more painful it felt, the weaker I got.
I swallowed hard as my tears traced downward, mixed with blood.
“Take her to her room. Clean her up and make sure to hide the wounds,” the cold voice of a guard ordered, and two others approached to carry out the command.
They lifted me, my body protesting against the movement, and I winced as the chains dug deeper. It didn't take too long after for me to succumb to the darkness.

Amelia's POV.
The birds were chirping, the air was crisp. I could feel I was in a moving vehicle, but my body was too weak. The scent of fresh air teased my senses, a stark contrast to the confines of the cold, damp dungeon.
I tried to open my eyes, but the sunlight streaming through the window was blinding. Gradually, my vision adjusted, revealing the interior of what seemed to be a luxurious car. The plush seats and polished surfaces clashed with my battered state.
"Amelia, you're awake," a familiar voice echoed, and I turned my head to see Martha sitting beside me, concern etched across her face.
"Where are we?" I managed to croak, my throat parched from the ordeal.
"We are on our way to the Silvercrest pack…are you alright?” She asked.
I winced when I tried to straighten myself. “I am fine, I am okay…but why are you here?”
Martha grinned, “To be your maid in waiting, duh. Who do you think dressed you up when you were unconscious? Luckily Alpha Tyler did not mind losing me.”
I managed a weak smile, appreciating her attempt to lighten the mood. "Thanks, Martha. But seriously, how did we end up in this car? And who's driving?"
She hesitated for a moment before responding, "The man driving is Jake, Klaus's beta. He's the one who helped us escape."
"Jake?" I whispered, surprise and confusion mingling in my voice. "Klaus's beta?"
Martha nodded, “Guess that alpha did not want to come himself”
I hummed, it was nice to have Martha with me, I wouldn't be alone in that pack myself. I looked at the man who was driving, he had not turned to check up on me. I wonder if I was dead they would mind at all. Guess they wouldn't. They are the same. Ruthless bastards.
I didn't even know when the tears started to flow, until I felt Martha's hand wiping my face. “It's going to be alright,” she said. I offered her a smile. Surely, it must have been hard for her to join me on this journey but Martha would never show it on her face.
I had to do this, to be strong. They said Klaus liked his women docile and weak but I don't want to be docile or weak for anyone anymore. I can't. I was going to keep my cool, even though my back sting like hell and my temperature was already rising.
I hope my wound was not infected, that would mean double trouble, but feeling the way the cloth was scratching the wounds, there was a possibility that it may have been.
The car finally came to a stop at a white mansion that was mostly made of glass. I came off the car well but soon my legs staggered and I almost fell, luckily Martha saved me.
“Oh my goodness, Amelia your body is hot”
I smacked her hands away, “I am fine”
“I am sure they would have a pack doctor or so who could take of your wounds”
I wanted to nod but my head felt as if there were tiny ants walking in my head. At that moment I heard footsteps, Jake straightened his back looking forward and I followed suit.
I let out a breath I did not realize I was holding. Was that Alpha Klaus?
Damn, who would have thought such a cruel man would be this handsome. He was tall, broad-shouldered, his dark hair falling in unruly waves that framed a strong, chiseled jawline. His silver eyes held an intensity that seemed to pierce through any pretense.
I lowered my eyes, ready to bow as a sign of respect but moving my head already made me dizzy.
The world seemed to spin in front of me as I took in his presence. Suddenly, my legs gave way, and I felt myself falling. Before I hit the ground, a strong hand caught me, preventing the impact.
"Amelia!" Martha's voice echoed in the distance, filled with concern.
I tried to focus on her voice, but the world blurred, and the next thing I knew, I was looking into the piercing silver eyes of Alpha Klaus. The handsome facade now held a cold, calculating expression as I lost consciousness once again.
****
The room was dark when I opened my eyes. My surroundings slowly came into focus, and I realized I was lying on a comfortable bed. The air carried a scent of unfamiliarity, a stark contrast to the damp dungeon.
I attempted to sit up, and a wave of dizziness washed over me. Glancing around, I noticed the room was adorned with simple yet elegant furnishings. It was a stark departure from the harsh environment I had grown accustomed to.
The door creaked open, and a figure stepped into the room. His shoulder was so broad that it covered any light that came from the hallway.
Alpha Klaus walked in with powerful strides as he moved closer to me. The more he got nearer, the more I felt this strange heat from within me. One I had not expected to feel over the man that would be my torturer for the next how many years.
He grabbed my cheek, his touch surprisingly gentle. "The fact that they brought an omega to me shows how downgrading they think of me," he scoffed. "What's your name?"
"Amelia," I replied.
Klaus studied me for a moment, his silver eyes piercing through my defenses. With his hands on my face, I don't know why I felt this surge of electricity surging through me.
My body felt warm because of the fact, like climbing on top of him.
What was wrong with me? Why am I feeling this way towards my captor? Yes I was to be his bride, but that doesn't mean I should jump at him.
I bit my lip, trying to remove my mind from the fact that he was so near.
"And the fact that you are wolf-less," Klaus continued, his gaze unwavering. "Turn around.”
I turned around as Klaus commanded, his presence dominating the room. I felt a mix of fear and curiosity, unsure of what he intended.
His fingers traced along my spine, and I couldn't help but shiver at his touch. "You're not marked," he mused, a hint of surprise in his voice. "No pack, no bond."
I swallowed hard, realizing the significance of his words. Being wolfless was a vulnerability, a weakness in the world of werewolves.
Klaus let out a low chuckle. "You're an interesting case, Amelia. An omega without a pack. Tell me, why did you agree to this marriage? Do you have a death wish?"
The question hung in the air, and I hesitated before answering. "I agreed for the sake of my pack. I never wanted this."
He leaned in, his lips near my ear. "You're lying, Amelia. Do you dare to lie to me?”
The heat from my tummy intensified, a strange mixture of fear and an unsettling attraction. I shook my head, the truth resonating in my response. "I swear, Alpha Klaus, I'm not lying."
He pulled away, a calculating glint in his silver eyes. Without warning, his hand gripped the fabric of my shirt and, with a swift motion, he ripped it open. The sudden exposure made me feel vulnerable and exposed.
"The wounds have healed well," Klaus observed, his fingers tracing over the faded marks on my back. "Who flogged you and why?"
I hesitated, reliving the painful memories. "It was the punishment for questioning the alpha's orders, for daring to suggest escape. I didn't know any better, Alpha Klaus."
He studied me for a moment, his expression unreadable. "Seeing that you are able to resist that, maybe you would be able to resist me.”
I do not know if it was his voice that was making me feel this way, this need and want. I needed him. I was slowly inclining my head to the right as if I wanted him to mark me. I had no wolf, I could not feel any bond but why was I feeling this way towards him.
"I can smell arousal," Klaus remarked with a smirk, his eyes narrowing as he observed my conflicted state. "I see the reason why they sent you. Not for marriage, but because you are a naughty omega."
The words brought me back to reality, and I stammered, "No... no."
Klaus pushed my head away, making it hit the wall slightly.
“You reek of weakness, didn't they tell you my pack is not for weak people? Your presence is disgusting” Klaus's tone turned harsh, and he spat hurtful words at me that made my eyes burn with tears.
I did not know how to act or what to do, I just sat there looking at my hand as the tears flowed.
As he turned to leave, I thought it was over. But then, he turned back, looking at me with a cold resolve.
"You will serve other purposes, but being my bride... over my dead body will I, an alpha, marry an omega."
The moment the door closed, I broke. The reality of my situation crashed down on me, and I couldn't hold back the tears any longer.
I looked up above, hoping the goddess would see me through this. I couldn't help but wonder, why me? Why did it always have to be me?
