"Let's divorce."
They had been married for three years, and this was the second sentence Simon had uttered to Lexi.
The first sentence was on their wedding night.
She twirled in front of him, wearing a white wedding dress. And she asked with a smile, "Do I look good?"
The response she received was,
"The wedding is over. I will send you abroad."
And so, she was sent abroad for three years, alone.
But she never expected to receive these words just after returning.
Divorce.
On their anniversary.
"Is it a must?"
Lexi did not raise her head. Her long hair covered her face, hiding all her emotions.
Her voice trembled slightly with a hint of tears, "Can't we discuss it?"
Simon gazed at her with his dark eyes for a long time. His cold voice devoid of any extra emotions, "If it weren't for my grandfather, I would never have married you in the first place."
Three years ago, Raff fell seriously ill. His dying wish was to see Simon get married and start a family.
She was not supposed to be the bride. She was just a girl who had been mistakenly brought back by the Hilfiger family. And on her 18th birthday, she was informed that the true daughter of the Hilfiger, Belle Hilfiger, had returned. And she, Lexi, became a fake.
Everything she enjoyed should have belonged to Belle—parents' love, elder brother's doting, and even the arranged marriage between the Hilfiger and the Albray.
But Raff said that the foundation of marriage was love. She and Simon had grown up together, even though her identity was false. The Hilfiger family still recognized her as their girl, so the two families remained in-laws.
And it became a fact that, she and Simon got married.
But then Belle was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She couldn't bear to hear Lexi's name, let alone see her. After hearing about this marriage, she even attempted suicide and insisted Simon's constant presence at her side.
To prevent Belle's condition from worsening, on the second day of their marriage, Simon sent Lexi abroad without any contact or concern.
Simon handed her a document, "The divorce agreement had been drafted by the lawyer. Take a look, and if you have no objections, sign it."
Lexi took the document with her head lowered, "Can you give me some time?"
Simon looked at her. Heavy bangs covering her eyes, her solitary life overseas seemingly have made her even more introverted.
"If you have any dissatisfaction regarding the assets, feel free to ask more. This villa will be transferred to your name as well. I'll give you a week."
After saying that, Simon left the room.
As his fingers grasped the doorknob, he glanced back at the room. Lexi's shoulders trembled slightly, still holding the contract without moving.
Simon's eyes darkened as he closed the door.
The room fell completely silent.
After a moment, a burst of cheering erupted.
"Screw you! Finally it is over!"
Lexi looked at the divorce agreement in her hand and couldn't help but burst into laughter. Her shoulders trembling even more evidently.
During the three years she was sent abroad, she didn't receive a single caring message from the Hilfiger family, let alone a word of comfort from her so-called husband.
Even when she was stalked by someone and almost died outside, she couldn't reach Simon's phone.
Her love to Simon had been buried in that winter long ago.
After happily signing the paper, she jumped onto the bed. A beautiful face now without bangs blocking, was filled with no traces of grievance.
Just as she was about to tidy up her luggage, the phone rang.
Lexi answered the call obediently, "Hello, Kevin."
Kevin went straight to the point, "Lexi, those who tried to kidnap you at the airport when you returned to the country have been caught. They’re also related to the stalking case from three years ago. Unfortunately, all the clues have pointed to your foster parents and…your so-called husband."

Lexi fell into silence.
After a while, she spoke in a relaxed tone, "Since I have survived and found you, I won't sue them. After all, they have raised me."
Consider it as compensation for those years.
"Lexi…"
It seemed like Kevin wanted to say something else, but her door was suddenly knocked.
Lexi ignored the person outside the door, "Kevin, I know what you wanna say. But now I just hope to get rid of them. So, let it be."
The kidnapping failed, which could be easily denied even if there were clues. It's not worth it to get backfired without substantial evidence.
If the Hilfiger family found out she was actually a Huston, that bloody-rich Huston, they would greedily demand for cashes in return.
That's why she wants a divorce as soon as possible and completely sever ties with the Hilfiger. After divorce, even if her identity is revealed someday, she will not bring trouble to her real families.
The knocking on the door became urgent.
Lexi stopped speaking, "Alright, Kevin, I got something to do, bye."
She hung up the phone.
Lexi didn't rush to open the door. When the knocking became more impatient, she reluctantly messed up her bangs and slowly walked over.
As she opened the door, the man outside still had his hand raised, noticeably impatient.
Lexi looked up. Her voice was gentle, "Anything else you wanna talk?"
It's not difficult to detect her faint detachment.
Simon's brow furrowed as he put his hand down. His tone became distant, "Tomorrow is Belle's birthday. There is a banquet at the Hilfiger's. Clear your time in the afternoon, and I'll pick you up."
Lexi blinked.
Belle.
So intimate.
Lexi smiled, "Alright, anything else?"
Simon looked at her little face, unable to discern her emotions under her bangs. She seemed to accept it all calmly.
He inexplicably felt a surge of frustration and was about to leave, "That’s all. Good night."
"Wait."
Lexi called out.
She handed him the divorce agreement he gave her a few minutes ago.
"I have already signed it. As for the divorce certificate, you can send to me later. I wrote my address on a note attached to it."
When they got married, Simon was not present. Now, with his ability, getting a divorce should be even simpler.
Simon looked at the document and then moved his gaze to her overly calm face.
His voice was hoarse, "I thought you want some time."
"You won't change your mind, will you?"
Lexi's hand was sore, so she directly stuffed the document into Simon's arms, "And tomorrow is Belle's birthday. She will be happy to see this."
Simon slowly took the document.
He lowered his head, "What about you?"
"What?"
His voice was low, and Lexi didn't hear clearly.
"Nothing."
Upon coming to his senses, Simon’s gaze fell upon Lexi's face, "Nighty."
"Nighty."
As soon as she said that, the door slammed shut right in front of Simon.
Simon stared at the tightly closed door. His face darkened to the extreme.
Lexi's faint smile kept lingering in his mind. He glanced at the document in his hand and finally walked away.
The next day, Lexi received a call from the Hilfiger.
Her foster mother, Sally, tactfully asked about the divorce between her and Simon.
Rather than concealing or pretending, Lexi directly admitted, "Simon gave me the divorce agreement last night, and I have already signed it."
Ever since Belle returned, Lexi had been prohibited from calling Sally mom. If it weren't for the alliance between the Albray and Hilfiger and the reputation of both families, she might have been kicked out of the house then.
But even if she were not kicked out, her life would not have been considered good.
When Sally heard that Lexi had already signed the divorce agreement, Sally suddenly changed her attitude to one of arrogance and contempt. She spoke as if doing charity, "It's Belle's birthday today. You can come."
Lexi hid the coldness in her eyes and replied, "Thanks, Sally."
Usually, after giving the order, Sally would hang up.
But today, she added some warning in a sarcastic tone, "Raff made a mistake. But now, everything is back to normal. Lexi, don't be vengeful. You are not worthy of the Albray. If not for your good luck of being adopted by us, you would never have had the opportunity to step into the prestigious Albray's. You would have died on the street. And if it weren't for you, we wouldn't have lost Belle for so many years. She even got ill because of you. Belle is getting better now, but she still can't be stirred. As her older sister, you owe her a lot and should give way to her."
With these words, Lexi was degraded to dust. Her life was once threatened, and now they tried to play the card of moral manipulation. But if not for the earthquake and the nurse's mistake, she would have been the cherished pearl of the top-tier Huston.
"I know."
Lexi responded calmly and packed her suitcase.
There was nothing belong to her in the villa. She could bring a suitcase in and leave with just a suitcase.
Sally snorted coldly and hung up the phone.
Suddenly, a honking sound came from outside.
Simon didn't get out of the car, but directly called Lexi. His voice was indifferent, with only two words: "Come down."
