"I will believe in you, even if no one else does. Even if you don't believe in yourself." He said.
Those were his last words before I left, before "us" just disappeared.
"Selena, we'll have a family dinner later, fix yourself up and wear something elegant. You need to look presentable." My mom shouted.
My parents are both doctors. Our family, Santiago, is a well-known family in the Philippines. My great grandfather is the owner of almost all the hospitals in our country. That's why my Kuya (older brother) became a doctor too. I'm the middle child, so they don't expect anything from me, but I always do my best not to degrade our family.
I took a bath and put light makeup on my face. I chose a white fitted dress. It's above the knee, and it embraces the shape of my body. I put on the necklace that my brother gave me and let my hair fall. I grabbed my silver stilettos and went downstairs.
"You look perfect." My brother smiled.
"You look ugly," I replied.
We laughed and did some picture taking. I know my brother wanted to be a photographer, but it's the law in our family that the first born be a doctor. I feel bad for him. If I could take that responsibility, I would just to make him happy.
"Ate (older sister), do I look cute?" Gino, my baby brother, giggled.
"You look so cute. The cutest person I've ever seen." I smiled.
"You hear that, Kuya? I'm the cutest, and you're the yuckiest." He laughed.
My brother was about to tickle Gino when our parents called us. It's already 8:00 in the evening, and we're getting late for the family dinner.
Dad drove the car while Mom and Gino were in the front seat. Me and Kuya are busy talking in the back seat.
"Who's that girl?" I asked.
Lately, I always catch Kuya talking to someone on his phone, and today I just saw a beautiful girl as his wallpaper.
"Secret, no glue." He laughed.
"No glue? What the hell? It's no clue." I laughed as I teased him.
"That's my baby. She's beautiful, right?" He whispered.
I nodded and smiled at him. Whoever this girl is, she's making my brother happy, and I want to thank her for that.
"Aren't you going to introduce her to our family?" I asked.
"I already introduced her to our parents. We got caught." He scratched his head.
"I'm going to introduce her later. You know Lolo will ask everyone." He shrugged his shoulders.
He's right. Every family dinner, my grandfather will ask everyone if we have a special someone. The good thing about that is he accepts everyone, even if your past is bad or your financial state is not so good. Lolo will try to understand everything, and I'm proud because of that.
"How about you, Selena, still single at your age?" My dad joked.
"As if someone will choose the wrong path and love Selena." Kuya laughed.
"Ha-ha, that's funny." I rolled my eyes.
They don't know anything about Ciro. They don't know anything about my ex-boyfriend. I kept everything secret. I wonder where he is now. It's been 5 years, and still, I'm stuck as hell.
"Don't rush everything, darling, ok? Everything will fall into the right place. You'll find your soulmate." Mom smiled.
"How about me, mommy? My soulmate, where is she?" Gino giggled.
"You're too young for that little boy. When you're like your Kuya, Anthony, you will meet your soulmate." Dad replied.
"Go down, sweeties, don't forget to greet your uncle and aunties," Dad said as he carried Gino.
Kuya held my hand, and we walked upstairs. My grandparents' house is so huge, there's a huge gate at the entrance. The left side was the pool area, where there are two pools. The right side was the garage. I saw 3 cars parked there, maybe my cousins are already here. The front door was big and stunning. There are 10 bedrooms on the second floor, but it would take me a day to describe how lovely this house is.
When we reached the dining table, I saw my grandfather sitting at the end of the long table, smiling. I sat beside Kuya, and he gave me a thumbs up.
"We're complete!" My grandfather said.
The maids started to serve the food. I felt like my mouth was watering; there were so many kinds of seafood and Filipino foods.
"Wait, where's Hazel?" My grandmother asked.
My cousin. Are they still together? Are they already married? Maybe.
"She will arrive, just checking the hospital, Mama." Tita Sophia said to her mother.
Kuya Tristan lead the prayer, and everyone clapped their hands. We are all ready to eat.
"My question, over and over again, is—"
"Anyone here who have a special someone?" We laughed as we cut off our grandfather.
Kuya raised his hand and stand up. Seems like everyone is surprised.
"Reigh Ashley Trexso, grandpa. We've been together for months now." Kuya said proudly.
"What a nice name. Bring her here next family dinner, ok? I bet she's beautiful because you're handsome." Lolo smiled.
"She is."
"Anyone else except for Anthony?" My grandfather asked again.
"Me, Lolo!"
Hazel shouted and ran towards our grandfather. She's so beautiful, her yellow dress embraced her body like she's a supermodel. It's noticeable that she became mature after 5 years. Her stilettos are shining, her smile is stunning.
"You're late, Iha (daughter), but your relationship doesn't count. We already know." Grandpa said.
Hazel giggled and sat in front of me together with her boyfriend, fiancé rather, Ciro Privino. I looked at Kuya, and he noticed that my eyes were watering.
"Are you ok?" He whispered.
"H-he's, Kuya, it's h-him," I said.
Kuya handed me his handkerchief and signed for me to go to the garden to breathe for a while. I know he didn't understand my connection to Ciro, but he felt something was wrong.
"Lolo, can I excuse myself? I just need to use the bathroom." I said while frowning.
"Are you ok, Iha? Do you have allergies? Your eyes are getting red." My grandmother noticed and sounded so worried.
"Nah, I'm ok, Lola, just need to pee," I said and excused myself.
Instead of going to the bathroom, I went to our garden and sat on the swing there.
I thought I was ok, I thought that everything was fine, but when I saw him with her, my heart just broke itself. That should be me, I said to myself while wiping my tears.
"Selena, fix yourself. Everything's ok," I said comforting myself.
"You're still wearing the ring that I gave you." A familiar voice whispered at my back.
I looked back and saw him, his beautiful eyes turned into deep black ones. He grew so fast, even his voice changed, everything's changed.
"I just forget to remove it," I said.
I immediately stand and walk upstairs.
"Why do you always leave me?" He grabbed my arms.
"Because this is the right thing."
He released me and left me at the staircase. When I went back to my seat, everyone was busy with their own business.
I stare at him, and he's happily talking to Hazel. It looks like nothing happened, like he didn't hurt me at all.

"Selena! Wake up! We'll be late for school!"
A shout in the morning keep the alarm clock away. Kuya is so annoying, always pretending that he's my boss.
"Darling, wake up, breakfast is ready." Mom knocked.
"I'll be there Mom, give me 20 minutes."
I checked my phone and it's only 5:30 in the morning. Our class starts at 7:30, I hate Kuya for always being an early bird.
I took a bath and wore my school uniform. It's a white plain blouse with this dark blue necktie and a dark blue short skirt.
"What do we have for breakfast?" I asked.
"Hotdog, bacon, and egg sweetie." Dad said while reading the newspaper.
I started eating while Kuya is taking a bath. Luckily my mother prepared a coffee, I don't like milk.
"Let's go." Kuya said while buttoning his polo.
"I'm still brushing my teeth, it's just 6:00 relax." I rolled my eyes.
I bet he have an assignment to do at school. Lazy boy, yikes. I wiped the toothpaste in my lips and pick up my bag.
"Goodbye Mom." I kissed her cheeks.
Dad started the car and we headed to the school. Actually I don't like to go to school, adding the fact that I'm in my 10th grade and they transferred me here because of my brother. Uh everything sucks.
"The both of you should be at our house before 6:30 ok?" Dad reminded us.
"I have a thesis to work on Dad."
"Ok 8:30 for you, Selena still 6:30 ok?"
"Yes dad."
I walk towards our classroom, I'm always the first person to come so I have our classroom key. After I put my bag in my chair I left our room and decided to walk around the campus.
This is bigger than my previous school. The field was so wide, and there's a basketball court too. The buildings of the juniors are at the left side while the seniors have the right side.
Their uniform is different too, instead of dark blue their uniform is light blue.
As I was passing by at the hallway someone who's running bumped into me and spilled his pink juice on my uniform.
"O my gosh, I'm so sorry." I said thinking it's my fault.
"Damn you! Look what you've done to my drink. Go get me a new one." She shouted.
My blood boiled and I answered her with the exact bitchy face she have.
"Excuse me but look at my uniform, should I say go get me a new uniform too?" I smirked.
"Look at this." He pointed the tag in her uniform.
"I'm a part of the Supreme Students Government so you should say sorry and buy me a new drink." She rolled her eyes.
"I don't even care if you're part of that something chuchu so whatever."
"Hey what's happening here." A handsome senior student asked us.
Wait, did I just say he's handsome?!
"Ciro look, she bumped into me and spilled my juice. She needs to buy me a new one." Said by the little girl pouting.
"Look at my uniform. It's her fault! She's running like crazy here and she spilled her drink in my uniform." I protested.
"Look Miss that's a bad thing. What grade are you in?" She asked the girl. Huh! I won!
"Grade 8 but she's wrong, she's a 10th grader then she's making a scene with an 8th grader."
"Hmm let's see. Just don't fight again. Let this pass, hey little 8th grader can I get your number?" He smirked.
They negotiate and talk about stuff and I decided to walk away. Damn that boy! I thought he's going to help me, and what about my uniform huh?!
"Miss, I have an extra uniform in my locker. It's a polo but I can let you borrow my hoodie too." A guy said.
He's handsome too and he's even watching us earlier, maybe he's one of that Ciro's friend.
"Thank you so much." I smiled.
We walked together towards his locker.
"Hey, Liam? Where are you going?" That Ciro shouted.
"At my locker, I'm gonna let her borrow my stuffs." Liam smirked like he was teasing his friend.
"You can get mine instead." Ciro blocked our way.
"Can you please let us go? I have a class and I want her stuff, not yours." I said because I was so irritated for what he did.
I let Liam grab my hand and he brought me to his locker. His stuff was all fragrant.
"There is the ladies’ room, I'll wait for you here." He smiled.
I changed clothes and fix myself. His scent is lingering on my body, he smell so nice. I fix my hair and looked for him outside.
"You look good." He smiled as he compliment me.
"Thank you, I'll give this back tomorrow." I smiled.
"Where is your room? I will accompany you to go there."
I pointed the second floor of the third building and we walk together.
"You'll get late." I said.
"Nah, our time is 8:00, you know law students." He smiled, his dimples are hypnotizing.
"Here we are, thank you again. I'll give your stuffs tomorrow." I waved my hand as a sign of goodbye.
"Ok sure, can we meet after the class end?"
"Why?"
"I'm going to drive you home. Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid or bad, promise." He gave his pinky swear.
"Ok, wait for me." I smiled.
I was about to enter the room when someone blocked me.
"What's your problem?!" I shouted.
"I told you, you can borrow my stuffs. Why did you borrow his?" He said with a lonely voice, like I did something that hurt him.
"Can you please stop, you're annoying." I pushed him and I entered our room.
My classmates looked at me like a did a deadly sin.
"Are you guys ok?"
"What did you just do? It's Ciro Privino, omygosh! The heartthrob of our campus!" Carylle shouted, my cousin.
"I don't even care, I find Liam more attractive." I smiled.
"Class quiet! We will have a meeting so just do this tasks and you're free to go. Pass your notebooks here." Ms. Smith said.
My classmates are happy and going wild while I was quite finishing the tasks. I miss my classmates at my old school, I miss them.
"What's the answer at number 5?" Edward shouted that made us laugh.
He's the class clown and even if he didn't do anything it made us laugh.
"It’s 0.9757." I shouted.
"Holy cow! Thank you, you're the best!" He shouted.
I passed my notebook and picked up my bag. Edward has a key too that's why I'm not obligated to close our room.
I was about to call a taxi when I remembered that Liam would drive me home.
"You're Selena?" A cute girl approached me.
"Yes, I'm Selena Santiago Portia." I smiled.
"I'm Ferry Porthiàx, sibling of Liam. He told me that he will pick us here." She smiled.
They have the same smile and same great personality. Actually they look like twins but Ferry look younger.
After a minute a car stopped in front of us. Liam opened the backseat and let her sister sit there. He then opened the front seat for me.
"I told you, I won't do anything stupid." He smiled.
"I trust you."
"Please stop chit chatting and let this car move!" Someone shouted from the back.
I was shocked when I saw Ciro smirking at me. Damn he gave me chills.
"What happened to the funny Ciro, huh? It seems like you're so pissed today." Ferry laughed.
"Maybe it’s his time of the month." I joked and we laughed.
"That's my house." I pointed the one with silver gate.
"Thank you for the ride. I'll give this back tomorrow." I smiled.
"You're welcome. See you tomorrow then." He waved his hand.
I opened the door and saw my mom preparing dinner. I dropped my bag and sat at the sofa. Ugh what a tiring day. The aromatic scent of the food make my mouth watery.
"Who's hoodie is that?" My mom asked.
"It's Liam's hoodie mom." Before I could answer, Kuya answered it while opening the door.
"Who's Liam?"
"A senior Mom, someone spilled a juice on me that's why he let me borrow his stuff." I explained.
Mom serve the dinner and I eat silently. Kuya looked at me like he's going to kill me. What the hell?
"I heard you just rejected Ciro's offer." My Kuya smirked.
"What's the big deal?" I said still chewing the pork.
"No one ever did that before, they say it's a privilege. Ciro Privino, a well-known law student. He's the number 1 in their department, he's good looking and also has a lots of talents." Kuya said.
"So?"
"I was just saying don't come near them, even Liam. They will just make you a toy." He warned.
"Liam seems to be nice."
"Do you want me to cause a war if ever you got hurt?" He said seriously.
"Nah, chill, I'm not gonna like someone that is connected to them." I claimed my defeat.
I fix myself and my things in my bedroom, I was about to sleep when I felt the vibration of my phone.
