Night fell, cool as a refreshing breeze, Second floor of the mansion in a high-end neighbourhood.
The door to the master bedroom was gently pushed open, and a woman in a maid's uniform held her breath as she cautiously stepped inside.
Bathed in the soft moonlight, she quietly pulled open each drawer of the table and searched through them with a delicate touch. Before long, a look of disappointment crossed her serious features.
Why wasn't it here?
Furrowing her brow, she turned around, only to have her gaze immediately drawn to the man lying on the bed, his eyes closed.
Thick brows, a high-bridged nose, and a chiseled jawline - even in his stillness, an aura of undeniable power emanated from him.
Next to him, the bedside table's top and bottom drawers were locked, the keys hanging on the wall. An idea forming, she crept towards the table, her hand stealthily reaching out...Just as she was about to grasp the keys, a big hand suddenly clamped down on her wrist.
A cold, harsh voice suddenly exploded in her ear, "Speak, who sent you here?"
Startled, Aviana Ashwood instinctively looked up, only to see the man had opened his eyes, his gaze dark and merciless in the dim light.
Acting quickly, she adopted a panicked expression, her body trembling as she sobbed, "Mr. Morgan, I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have let my greed lead me to come here and try to steal from you. I won't do it again, I promise! Please, since this is my first offense, have mercy and forgive me just this once..."
Royce Morgan sat up partially, his eyes narrowed as he studied her coldly. "The valuables are in the cabinet, not that direction."
Palms sweating, Aviana endured the pain in her wrist and gathered herself to continue her tearful pleas. "I-I just thought the jade ashtray on the nightstand looked expensive, so I wanted to take that too..."
A derisive snort was his only response.
Suddenly, the sound of the toilet flushing filled the room, and a delicate, doll-like child emerged, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
Wearing loose, cartoon-patterned pajamas, the boy blinked in confusion at the scene before him. His large, doe-like eyes then widened, slowly filling with tears.
Royce Morgan's brow furrowed slightly.
Aviana Ashwood, unsure of the situation but sensing the man had relaxed his guard, quickly seized the opportunity to try and escape. However, A cold look flashed across Royce's eyes, and he swiftly pulled her back. Caught off guard, Aviana suddenly found herself enveloped in a warm embrace, her nose painfully colliding with his chest as tears sprang to her eyes.
Glaring up at the man in annoyance, she tried to speak, but was cut off by an earth-shattering wail."Waaaah! Just went to the bathroom, and you, you bad woman! How could you try to seduce my dad?! Waaah!"
The chubby-cheeked child's face was wet with tears as he pointed an accusing finger at Aviana. "And that too right in front of me, it’s too much! Waaah, way too much!"
Royce Morgan remained silent, observing the situation unfold.
The originally tense situation was instantly defused when this little brat launched his impassioned accusation. To Aviana's surprise, his fervent defense of his father seemed to instantly melt her heart. How cute! she couldn't help but exclaim.
"Brother, what's going on? Did Ollie wet the bed again or...?"Hearing the commotion, Jacob Finley rushed in hurriedly. As soon as he turned on the lights, he was utterly stunned by the sight before him.
Who could tell him why his ever-stoic brother like figure, Royce Morgan, had a woman wrapped in his arms? And in the dead of night, no less, with the lights dimmed?
Royce's expression darkened. With a swift motion, he pushed Aviana away, casting her a cold, sidelong glance. "Well, what are you gawking at?" he said icily.
Jacob quickly realized the situation was not as he had assumed. He strode up to her, his expression hardening into a stern glare, and scolded her disapprovingly:"You insolent little maid! How dare you have the audacity to try and seduce Mr. Royce right in front of me? Didn't I make it clear that his quarters are strictly off-limits? You servants think you can just use cheap tricks to climb your way up, and now you have the nerve to brazenly try and ply Mr. Royce with your wiles? Do you have a death wish?"
Ply him with her wiles? This was a grave misunderstanding! Aviana tried to quickly explain, "No, it's not like that, I—""Waaaah!"Unexpectedly, the little boy's cries grew even more anguished, cutting off Aviana's attempted clarification.
Royce remained impassive, unwilling to waste any more time. In a stern tone, he commanded, "Jake, take her to the police station."
With that, Royce turned and approached the little boy, gathering him comfortingly in his arms.
Following the order, Jacob, unfazed by the grating cries, simply grabbed Aviana and hauled her out without a second thought.
Aviana was on the verge of tears, frustrated that this cold man with no feelings had so completely misunderstood the situation. She had no improper intentions towards him whatsoever!
Once the two had disappeared from sight, Royce looked down at the small child in his embrace. The typically stern expression on his face softened with a touch of exasperation. "Oliver, have you cried enough yet?"
"No!" the little boy replied, sniffling as he wiped his runny nose on his father's clothes. Gazing up at him with pitiful, doe-like eyes, he asked, "Dad, was that woman going to be Ollie's new mommy?"
Royce paused momentarily, then set the child down on the bed, rubbing his forehead, "No, she was not."
"No, that's not true!" Oliver Morgan pouted, fresh tears welling up as he grew increasingly distressed. "If Ollie hadn't come in time, maybe Ollie would have had a little sister now, waaah...""..."

On the way to the police station, Aviana thought about the little kid she had just seen. She leaned forward slightly and casually asked, "Mr. Finley, was that little kid Mr. Morgan's son? I've been here for almost a month, but I don't think I've ever seen him before."
Otherwise, she wouldn't have chosen to commit the crime on a night like this and ended up getting caught red-handed."
"That sniveling brat? He's been staying at his grandma's place these past few days. He just got back this afternoon," Jacob replied, making a slight face.
Then, as if struck by a thought, Jacob glanced at her through the rearview mirror, a faint smirk on his lips. "Oh? Are you planning to try and win over that little crybaby to sneak your way into my brother's good graces?"
"No, not at all,"Aviana quickly denied, waving her hands. "I really was just there to steal something, I have zero intentions whatsoever towards Mr. Morgan, I swear on my life!"
"Alright, enough with the act. Weren't you just trying to steal his heart?" Jacob said.
Jacob scoffed dismissively, "You're not the first one I've seen like this. I've met at least eight or nine woman just in the past few months - the other day there was one who was even more desperate, threatening to jump off a building to prove her innocence. In the end, she still got the cold shoulder from brother and had to slink off with her tail between her legs. Compared to them, you're actually the ugliest one. So let me give you a piece of advice - drop those inappropriate thoughts of yours, and don't even think about setting your sights on Ollie. That little brat can cry you into questioning your own existence, and no one can ever calm him down properly!"
"..."
Alright then.
Aviana fell silent, her lowered gaze flickering with a sharp gleam. None of the information she had gathered mentioned that the CEO of the Morgan Group of Companies, which ranks among the top 10 largest corporations nationwide, had a 3 or 4-year-old child. This was certainly a surprising revelation.
......
The next morning, Liam Emerson came to the police station and bailed Aviana out.
He frowned as he spoke, "Avi, doing this all by yourself is way too dangerous! Do you know who Royce Morgan is? This time you got lucky and were just mistaken for some woman being used by someone to lure him out, but what about next time? Who can guarantee you'll be able to get away unharmed?"
Aviana responded vaguely, her thoughts focused on something else.
Since Royce had simply sent her off at the police station, did that mean he hadn't become suspicious of her?
Liam sighed heavily, his expression complex. "Avi, the living should focus on living well. Your father passed away so long ago, and the police investigation concluded it was an accidental fall - your suspicions about Royce Morgan are just your own guesses..."
"Liam!" Aviana halted abruptly, her face suddenly turning cold. "This is my own business, and I know exactly what I'm doing!""Anyway, thank you for today. If you need anything in the future, just call me. I have something else to take care of, so I'll be leaving now."With that, she hailed a taxi and left without looking back.
Heading straight for the Morgan family's mansion, Aviana waited in front of the gate until late at night, finally spotting the familiar black Porsche coming into view. She hurried over to intercept him. "Mr. Morgan, I was wrong, I truly realize my mistake now. Please, I beg you to give me a chance to stay here."
Royce had just stepped out of the car when he heard the pleading voice. Glancing sideways, he recognized the woman from the last night.
"I swear I will never have any improper thoughts towards you again! You know that if I'm driven out of the Morgan family, no one else will take me in. Please, give me one more chance!"Aviana cried passionately, her voice filled with anguish, "Mr. Morgan, I have elderly parents and a young kid to take care of. If I lose this job, I won't be able to survive..."
Royce's brow furrowed as he was about to respond, but a wail suddenly sounded, approaching from the distance.
"Brother, you're finally back! Quick, Ollie is crying again..." Halfway through speaking, Jacob noticed there was someone else present. Upon recognizing who it was, his expression turned to one of shock. "What? It's you again? You still won't give up on him?"
Aviana fell silent, unsure how to respond. Her tears momentarily halted, as if she had heard nothing.
It was obvious that Royce had also understood the situation. His dark eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at her thoughtfully, "You have a kid to raise? You must have a lot of experience then?"
Seeing that there was still room for negotiation, Aviana hurriedly nodded, regardless of the details, "Yes, yes, I have a lot of experience!"
Royce's cool gaze pierced directly into her, as if assessing the truthfulness of her words. After a moment, he spoke coldly, "I can give you one more chance."With that, he turned and walked in the direction Jacob had come from.
Aviana instantly understood the situation and hurriedly followed after him with a smile on her face. As long as she could stay, she would do anything!
Along the way,Jacob couldn't help but curiously lean in and quietly ask, "Aviana, just now you said you have a young kid to raise, have you already become a mother in such young age?"
She chuckled, "I was talking about the puppy I'm raising, a cute little white and chubby one!""......"
Jacob felt that his brother might have misunderstood something just like he had.
"Wow—"
As they entered the mansion, a piercing wail echoed through the air, growing louder as they approached the second floor.
Aviana couldn't help but shudder - this cry sounded eerily familiar to her.
True enough, as soon as they reached the bedroom door, they saw a flushed-faced little baby sitting on the bed and wailing uncontrollably, his cries growing louder by the second with no signs of stopping.
Before anyone could speak, little Oliver, seeing Aviana appear again through his blurred tears, cried even more fiercely, "This bad woman surely is the new mommy Dad found! Waaah, Dad doesn't love Ollie anymore..."
