Lately, Rosalie Geffroy had been feeling under the weather. She decided to head to the hospital for a check-up without letting Adrian Kingsley know. She got the test results half an hour later.
"Congratulations, Miss Geffroy. You're pregnant."
The doctor announced in a cheerful tone. Rosalie simply stared blankly at the HCG value on the test result, which was significantly higher than the normal range.
She didn't exactly jump for joy at the news.
She knew she shouldn't be pregnant because her relationship with Adrian was more of a casual fling.
"Thanks, doc."
Hiding the test report, she made her way back to the apartment that Adrian gave her. It had only one bed - a king-size one at that.
This apartment was where Rosalie called home, and Adrian often dropped by.
Usually, he would give her a heads-up before coming over. Every time she got his call, Rosalie would rush to take a shower.
She would fix herself up, put on clothes that she knew he liked, and cook his favorite dishes.
Her cooking would satisfy his hunger.
Meanwhile, her body would satisfy his desires.
True to form, Adrian called her an hour before he came to see her. "I'm on my way."
Holding the phone, Rosalie politely declined, "Mr. Kingsley, I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling well today."
Adrian recalled her sudden absence earlier in the afternoon, and his piercing gaze narrowed ever so slightly. "Miss Geffroy, don't forget that you're my secretary. I have every right to know what you were up to this afternoon."
Rosalie could feel the words "I'm pregnant" burning on the tip of her tongue.
But she couldn't bring herself to say it.
Adrian had a knack for figuring things out, and if he found out about her hospital visit, she'd have a hard time hiding her pregnancy.
So, she resorted to a little white lie. "I had a stomachache in the afternoon. I went straight back home after buying medicine from the pharmacy."
"Got it. Just wait for me at the apartment," Adrian replied, cutting off any chance for her to object.
Rosalie glanced at the abortion pills she had just purchased, sighing as she hid them away.
She came out of the bathroom wearing only a champagne-colored silk nightgown.
She stood there, vulnerable and exposed.
With each step she took, she could feel the cold wind brushing against her.
She had a combination of innocence and allure that Adrian found irresistible.
He reached out, pulling her onto his lap and holding her waist. "Is your stomach still bothering you? Let me give you a massage."
Freshly showered, her skin gave off a tempting scent of roses.
He tended to be very dominant whenever he wanted to make love to her.
Soon enough, he began to lift her dress, exposing more of her body. Rosalie hesitated for a moment, then gently pushed him away while her breath caught in her throat. "Mr. Kingsley, I really don't feel well."
He suppressed his immediate impulse and stopped and raised an eyebrow. "Is it because I've been indulging you too much?"
Her heart skipped a beat, frozen by his words. "No, Mr. Kingsley, I..."
Adrian cut her off. "You should know what things are like between us."
Rosalie fell silent and finally nodded.
He pushed her towards the floor-to-ceiling windows.
He placed his hands possessively around her chest as he planted a tender kiss on her smooth back. He had her at this scenic window.
His touch was tinged with roughness, a manifestation of anger or perhaps a punishment for her lack of interest.
This time, he was harder than ever.
Her face was pressed against the glass, her gaze vacant as she stared outside, while he held her waist tightly.
Desire burned like a campfire in an empty valley. He was sweating, but he looked distinguished and collected.
When they were about to get there, tension peaked as he forcefully and relentlessly consumed her with the fastest speed.
"That's enough," Rosalie whispered, her heart heavy with worry for the baby growing inside her, distracting her from fully enjoying the sex.
Adrian reached from behind her and gave her a passionate kiss.
His lips were as hot as fire as he nibbled on her bottom lip, and he said with a sneer, "Just admit that you like it. Why are you pretending you're not?"
Chapter 2 Look at Yourself Now | From the Suite to the Stroller

Rosalie unconsciously shielded her stomach and inquired, "Why do you think that?"
Adrian let out a soft laugh.
He gently pinned her against the chilly window and teasingly remarked, "Come on. Look at yourself now."
She could see their entwined bodies reflected in the bright floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as her delicate, lust-infused face.
Her mind went blank in an instant, and an overwhelming urge to escape took over her subconscious. "Mr. Kingsley..."
Right then, his phone suddenly rang.
It was the special ringtone that Adrian had set for Rosalie's sister, Lorraine Geffroy.
Adrian didn't let go of Rosalie but extended his hand to answer the call with a tender expression. "Lorraine, why are you calling me now?"
Lorraine's voice sounded pure and honeyed, "Adrian, I'll be coming back to the country next month. Could you pick me up at the airport?"
In Mesnoela, where Lorraine was, it was daytime with bright sunlight.
Adrian glanced at the moonlight outside and affectionately replied, "Of course, I'll be there."
Listening to their conversation made Rosalie feel queasy.
She suddenly felt the urge to vomit.
She quickly covered her mouth, not wanting to make any sound. Adrian glanced at her, narrowing his eyebrows slightly.
Lorraine said in a cheerful tone, "That's great! Sorry, but I gotta go. My friend is here to see me." Adrian said his goodbyes and casually tossed the phone aside.
He forcefully gripped Rosalie's chin, his eyes icy with coldness. "What did you mean just now? Do you think I'm disgusting?"
"No, I don't."
"You better not because all of this is your fault."
Those words made Rosalie's face grow even paler.
He was true. She knew she was the one to blame for this complete mess.
She had been raised in an orphanage until the Geffroy family adopted her when she was seven.
The Geffroy family had a younger daughter named Lorraine, who got engaged to Adrian many years later.
On the night before their engagement party, Rosalie accidentally slept with Adrian.
Chaos erupted within the Geffroy family. Everyone accused her, but she had no recollection of what had happened.
Later, Lorraine sadly left to study in Mesnoela. Unable to bear losing Adrian, who held power and influence, the Geffroy family suggested that Rosalie take Lorraine's place by his side. They justified it with a seemingly reasonable excuse, but in reality, they wanted to use her body to prevent Adrian from seeking other women and forgetting about Lorraine.
Rosalie was shocked and firmly refused the suggestion as soon as she heard it.
She believed that one mistake was enough to haunt her forever. She couldn't let herself sink into that shameful mess again, or Adrian would see her as a conniving woman. She had to hold onto her last shred of dignity.
But the Geffroy family didn't take no for an answer. They played dirty and threatened to shut down the orphanage, even using the life of its director as leverage.
It was a low blow, but Rosalie had no choice but to reluctantly agree.
Since then, she stayed by Adrian's side and later worked as his secretary at Kingsley Corporation.
During the day, they had a professional boss-employee relationship.
But behind closed doors, their apartment turned into a "battlefield" of endless passion.
Rosalie remained calm as she reflected on the past, but her heart ached with loneliness.
Little did anyone know, she admired Adrian for many years.
If the first mistake caught her by surprise, it also brought a secret sense of satisfaction. However, what happened later became something she couldn't control.
She got pleasure every time they made love, but afterward, Adrian would leave with indifference, leaving her heart hollow and empty.
Rosalie knew deep down that this stolen life would eventually come crashing down.
So, she began to contemplate the idea that maybe she shouldn't yearn for more from Adrian but instead give birth to their child. After all, it was the only tie that bound them.
...
After Adrian finished his cigarette, he followed his usual routine and headed to the bathroom for a shower.
Just before stepping in, he mentioned, "Lorraine is coming back. She always likes big mansions. Why don't you start making arrangements these days? And oh, I'll leave the renovation plans up to you."
Rosalie fell silent, her heart stinging with unexpected pain.
"Alright. I'll take care of it."
