Prologue | Knot your Omega Devil Alpha

“I didn’t do that,” I begged again, to anyone who might be listening outside. It’d been more than an hour since they had locked me in this cupboard. My voice was hoarse, my face full of tears and my whole body was shaking.

The darkness was overwhelming, trying to engulf me in the terror that I had never felt before. And when I thought that this darkness would eat me alive, I heard the sound of unlocking the door.

I rushed and fell into the warm embrace and he drew me closer to him.

“Why is it you again?” The voice was stoic; he was looking at me indifferently.

My eyes widened when I noticed that it was him, Graham, who opened the door, but then I cursed again because I knew how I looked.

Eyes red and puffy from crying, face full of blotch spots, and some scratches from the earlier struggle. This was my description, not a perfect way to be seen by a strikingly handsome Alpha like Graham. At eighteen he was taller than he should be, he was towering over my lanky figure, his eyes gleamed golden in the sunlight and his sun kissed hair was a picture to hold.

He drew everyone closer to him by his allure and charm, I was no different. Like every girl in the Mooncrest Pack, I also had a crush on Graham Parker. He was always good to me, or just indifferent to my plight.

“Hey,” he snapped, drawing me out of my daydream.

“I am asking you something?” he said, looking frustrated, having me in his arms.

“I.. sorry, I didn’t hear you,” I stammered, my face flush with embarrassment.

"Why did they lock you?" he asked.

"I.. I." I trailed off.

I didn't have the guts to tell Graham why Raymond and his gang locked me in after school hours.

"You must have done something. Did you fight with Ray again?" He scolded me.

"I didn't do anything, Raymond just… he just doesn't like me," I whispered.

I never do anything. It’s him who has a problem with me.

Graham hummed but didn’t question me further. He tugged my stray hair behind my ear, goosebumps scattered around my body.

"Today is your first shift," he said. Not a question but a statement.

I smiled unconsciously thinking that he remembered my birthday.

"Alpha River told me to check up on you." He replied leaving me deflated.

"Yes, Alpha River," I muttered.

He remembered not because he cared but because Alpha told him to.

"Graham," I said, his fingers gently brushing my cheek, it was as if he was in a trance, this unexpected touch sent a shiver down my spine.

"At party.." I hesitated, my voice was barely above a whisper. He was looking at me so intensely that I thought I might combust on the spot. His face drew closer to mine, lips dangerously close to mine, as if he was about to repeat what happened the other night. I could feel his warm breath on my skin.

"Was a mistake and the one I won't be repeating again." His eyes blazed with frustration as if he was angry at himself. He gently untangled himself from me.

My gut tightened in the vice. Something tightened in my chest, making my breaths shallow.

A mistake.

The moment that was such a beautiful moment for me was a mistake for him.

My eyes welled up at his confession. But I masked my emotions, Serena Green is nothing in this Mooncrest Pack. An outcast. An assumed bastard child of their Alpha River.

I chuckled at my stupid heart.

“What’s so funny?” he asked me.

“Go ahead, don’t spend time with a mistake,” I snapped at him.

We walked in uncomfortable silence and as we crossed the school grounds, we parted ways, because my house is on the outskirts of town. An outcast in every sense.

"Hello, sweetie, I made your favorite lunch for your birthday," the voice of Amelia, my mother, floated from the kitchen.

I don’t know how but she always knew whenever I came back.

"Hi, Mom," I grunted.

"You are way too chirpy, today. What happened?" she asked me while setting the table for both of us.

"Nothing," I answered.

"It doesn’t seem nothing to me. You can tell me."

"Is Alpha River my father?" I asked her again, but this time in the hope that she would just tell me the truth.

"No, he isn't. Thirteen years is a long time but not enough to change the truth." Her voice was exceptionally calm.

"Then who is? Because I am tired of listening that he is." My tone dripped with desperation.

"My dear child, you are a blessing to me. The one I have loved and adored all my life. And maybe you don't have a father. Am I not enough?" she asked me with a serene smile on her face.

"Don't twist this mom. I need to know the truth." I snapped at her.

"The only truth you need to know and understand is that you only have a mother and not a father." She replied nonchalantly.

"That might be your truth but not mine. And maybe I do need a father," I growled.

In an instant, her brown eyes turned black, and even her iris. But only for a second and for a moment I thought that I had imagined that.

I had never seen her shift and was not aware of what her wolf looked like.

She took a deep breath and said to me, "The conversation can wait for another time. Sit down and eat."

I wanted to argue but thought better of it. After eating when I was about to head to my room, my mother stopped me.

"Be ready at eleven. I will help you in your first shift," she told me, but her tone was strange.

"But, it's Alpha's job," I said with a frown.

"Yeah, but I will help you, do you want me to be there with you or the person who everyone thinks is your father?” her eyes narrowed at me.

“But then you will be giving ammunition to the pack members to make assumptions. That everything that they have been thinking is the truth. If I hide today, then everything will be over, Mom.” I trembled.

Not only with anger but also fear. I don’t think I have enough power to handle what would come next.

“Decision is not yours to make. You are not going to the pack meeting. This. Is. Final.” she barked.

Something akin to shock registered on her face when she saw the expression on my face.

“You… you., you are not an omega,” I stuttered and stumbled on my legs.

Chapter 1 | Knot your Omega Devil Alpha

My mother’s features hardened as she realized what I said; I was still reeling with the effect of revelation, that my mother who I had thought was submissive Omega, in reality, was something very different.

Now everything started making sense, her connection with Alpha River, people assuming that I was his child and maybe I was. Because this woman standing in front of me was not a weak, fragile omega.

She was a Luna, but…

I looked at her with horrified expressions.

“Serena,” she whispered, took a step toward me, but I staggered back.

“Y..You lied to me.” My eyes welled up with tears.

“You lied to me about everything.” I sniffled and added, “But tell me and I want the truth. Is Alpha River my father?” I asked her, again, with determination burning in my eyes.

“I don't know how many times I have to tell you but, no he isn’t. If you are so adamant about it why don’t you go for a DNA test, maybe that will give you closure.” She snarled at me, frustration evident in her voice.

“I don’t know what to believe now.” My voice was laced with confusion and anger toward my mother.

“Believe me, that’s what I am saying.” She looked at me, her eyes brimming with tears. “I want my daughter to believe me when I say that he is not your father.”

“I will believe you when I see it. Mom, please give me a reason to believe you, and from where I am standing, I have every reason not to believe you.” I gritted my teeth in frustration.

“You want to know the truth, so here is the truth: your father is no Alpha. He is something that I am not proud of, he is someone who would have taken you from me, would have molded you into something very sinister. I wanted to protect you and River provided me a safe haven, to nurture the blessing, the moon goddess gave me. I don’t care what others think about me, but I would die if my own daughter thought that I would indulge with someone who was already mated. I might have done things that I am not very proud of but I am not a home-wrecker.” she said, and the look she shot at me, broke my heart.

Tears ran down my face, cursing myself that I doubted my mother, but what was I supposed to think when her reality came thundering toward me like a betrayal?

“Why did you lie that you are an omega?” I asked her when she moved and hugged me.

“For protection, my dear child,” she whispered.

“I want to know the truth,” I said.

“Okay, fine. After your first shift, I will tell you everything.” She hesitated a little.

“You would help me?” I asked her again skeptically.

She chuckled looking at my doubtful appearance. “Don’t look at me like this girl, I have trained my whole life for these types of things. I am Luna after all.”

I snorted at her. And we both laughed looking at each other.

She was my only family and I loved her, even though she lied to me, but I didn’t doubt her love for me.

At night she helped me on my first shift. The pain was unbearable and the sound of bones crunching could be heard from a distance, at first I thought I might die from this pain, but with the help of my mother’s soothing, the situation became bearable.

After a few moments of pain, my wolf’s fur bristled in the cold air, and my wolf howled looking at the moon, basking in the serene moonlight, a wave of calmness washed over me, making my wolf sing and run, near the forest of my house.

My mother’s laughter echoed in the clearing, I looked at her and she beamed at me. Her face was the brightest I have ever seen.

“You want to run, go, but come back, your body will be exhausted with this new shift, and it will take time to get used to it.” she waved her hand and I yelped.

With a sense of freedom, I ran into the forest, my paws barely touching the ground. My fur gleamed in the moonlight, it was pitch black, just like my mother's eyes I saw in the afternoon.

The scent of earth and pine, filled my nose, but there was something else too, something that was not the usual forest smell. Something sweet and citrusy. My mouth watered and I followed the smell, my wolf yelped in joy after smelling that scent.

I quickened my pace, toward the source of the scene. It led me deeper into the forest, where I came to a sudden halt. In some distance, there was a gathering of wolves. In my haste, I didn’t realize that I entered the Mooncrest’s pack gathering.

I moved forward as the scent got stronger and my eyes landed on the big silver wolf, his eyes gleamed golden as they landed on me. A deep howl left my body, and I moved toward me.

It was him. He was the one for me, my mate.

My Graham I transformed back into my human form and he did the same.

Everyone looked at us, with bated breaths. There was a chill in the atmosphere, but my heart was singing.

I grinned at him, but his face hardened, eyes darkened and he scowled at me. My wolf didn’t like that.

“Mate,” I whispered.

“No, you are not. I reject you.” His voice cut through me like a knife.

I staggered back and stumbled on my legs. The words struck me like a physical blow and my world shattered in a matter of seconds. I always thought my mate would love me with his whole heart, but never in my worst nightmares, I thought that one day my mate would reject me like this.

Wolves transform one by one. I noticed that they all were just my schoolmates. Not a single elder was in sight.

The snickers and mocking laughter started after that. I couldn’t look at anyone. My vision was blurry because of the tears that were waiting to run over my face.

“Don’t be so rude, Graham. She is your mate, you can’t just leave her like this. And considering she is omega and now she has found her mate, she would go into heat real quick.” Raymond snickered.

The laughter intensified at his remark, making me retreat back into the forest, but it was hard to move. I was on the ground because the pain of a broken bond was a lot to bear.

“If that’s the case, come to me once your heat strikes, I will fuck you real quick.” Graham snorted, reveling in my misery.

I took a deep shuddering breath, trying to find the strength to transform back and run.

“And if not Graham, I can help too.” Mark chuckled, making my stomach twist.

Through blurry motion, I looked at Graham and he had an evil smirk on his face. Maybe this was my fate, he wasn’t what I thought he was.

No Alpha to save this Omega.

With some strength left in my body, I transformed back, unable to bear the humiliation and mockery. I ran toward my house.

And as if the goddess had planned that everything today would make me miserable, I was shocked to find my house empty. There was no one in the house.

“Mom,” I cried but got no reply. She never goes out once the sun goes down.

I panicked and rushed through the house, but all in no vain.

Because the only person who had truly loved me was gone.

“Mom,” I screamed with all my might.
