Synopsis

I, Lisa Connor, never could have imagined that a simple blind date would change my life forever. It started off as an ordinary encounter, but before I knew it, I found myself walking down the aisle with Eric Roosevelt, a billionaire whose icy demeanor and constant disdain for me made our marriage feel like a facade. Eric was undeniably attractive, but his cold exterior made me question his intentions. Did he truly believe I married him for his wealth? Was our marriage nothing more than a charade? In my mind, Eric was just another handsome yet arrogant salesman. Little did I know, a shocking revelation awaited me one fateful day. A newspaper article caught my eye, revealing the story of a billionaire husband who adored his wife. To my astonishment, the man in the article turned out to be none other than Eric!

Chapter 1 Get off, Ben! | Married after a Blind Date

Noon, scorching sun overhead.

New York was like a steamer, too hot to bear.

Lisa held her lunch box in one hand and rushed across the road with her phone in the other.

All she wanted was to return to the office and enjoy the air conditioning.

However, Tracy, her mother was urging her to go to a blind date on the phone.

"You won't get married if you don't go. You don't want to be alone all your life, do you? "

"Don't make me worry about you, Lisa. "

Tracy cried, using her usual tactics to evoke pity.

According to the life plan her mother arranged for her, she should go on a blind date and get married after 3 months, then pregnant. Is this the only destination for all women in the world?

Lisa is a face-judger. She is not afraid of marriage, even if the face of her blind date is slightly decent, she could have a flash marriage directly. However, the problem is that no one can meet her demands.

Lisa sighed.

She had no way to deal with her mother.

" Mom, stop. I'll go, alright?"

"I sent you the photo. Ben is really good, he…"

Lisa headed towards the cafe.

It wasn't until she saw the person that she impatiently hung up the phone.

"I saw Ben. We'll talk later. Bye!"

Lisa walked towards the man and politely smiled, "Hi, Ben."

The man looked surprised, then stood up with some excitement, "You must be Lisa? You're even more beautiful than in the photo."

Lisa smiled and sat down.

He looked much worse in person compared to the photo.

Wasn't he supposed to be 28 years old? His receding hairline almost made him bald.

Even when he smiled, he revealed two rows of yellow teeth.

Out of politeness, Lisa suppressed the idea of turning and running away. She tried to find something to talk to him about.

"So you work in the nearby?"

"Yes, I've been working here for four years and now I'm a supervisor. With the bonus, I make about 150,000 a year. I have a car, fully paid for, and as for the house, I paid the down payment and I'm still paying the monthly instalments. How about you?"

"I make 6,000 a month. I don't have a car or a house, but I have a small amount of savings."

Lisa didn't expect him to be so straightforward about his financial situation.

Ben frowned, seeming a bit disappointed.

"If we get married, can we share the instalment? I'll pay the majority and you can contribute a smaller portion, but you should take care of the household chores."

"Sure," Lisa also became straightforward, "but in that case, the house should be in my name."

"No, the down payment for the house is paid by me," Ben's face changed.

Lisa felt both angry and amused, "So what you're saying is, if I marry you, I have to work hard all day doing laundry, cooking, and cleaning, and also help you with the mortgage, but the house won't be in my name? Then what am I getting married for?"

Lisa picked up her lunch box and didn't give the man a chance to speak.

"I'm sorry, Ben, I won't need this. Please find someone else."

With that, she elegantly walked away, not even bothering to look at the man again.

Get off, Ben!

She wasted her lunch break for nothing.

"Wait."

As if hearing someone calling her, Lisa turned her head.

She saw an elderly woman with gray hair waving to her.

"Do we know each other?"

Lisa approached the old lady.

Dinah smiled, "I'm Dinah. I saw the whole process. Lisa, what about my grandson? I guarantee you'll be satisfied. He can support himself, so you won't have to worry about the mortgage, and I'll have him hire a maid for household chores."

From her fierce confrontation with Ben, Dinah could see that Lisa was insightful and decisive, which reminded Dinah of her younger self. As a result, she felt a special affinity with Lisa.

Lisa didn't know how to react.

"Dinah, are you just randomly picking someone on the street to be your daughter-in-law without fearing that she might be a bad person?"

"I can assess people accurately, and you definitely aren't a bad person."

Her grandson had come up with numerous excuses to avoid marriage. He claimed that women who approached him were just for money.

So Dinah decided to find someone who did not know him at all.

"My grandson also works here. I've already called him down."

Suddenly, she wore a delighted expression, "That's him."

Lisa saw a man in a white shirt walking towards them, with a cold but perfect face that couldn't be faulted.

"Grandma." Eric called in a casual tone. His gaze fell on Lisa. "She is the one?"

Lisa blushed a little.

Goodness, he is too hot!

"Eric." Eric extended his hand indifferently.

Lisa felt a bit nervous and hesitantly reached out her hand. "Lisa."

"Lisa, if it's convenient, let's go get married now."

Eric's cold voice was as captivating as a magnet, and his gaze held a hint of determination while looking at Lisa.

Her appearance was above average. With her high ponytail casually tied up, she gave off a simple and cool impression.

At least her appearance was passable, but other than that, Eric didn't care.

He was forced to get married.

To him, marrying her was merely a task.

"So urgent?" Lisa was completely unprepared.

But when she thought about how her mother was pressuring her to get married so urgently, and how the quality of the men she had met in blind dates kept getting worse, why not marry Eric now?

If she missed this opportunity, there wouldn't be another one.

Eric easily saw the fleeting excitement in Lisa's eyes.

Must be another gold-digger.

Eric glanced at his watch coldly, "I got a client coming later, and I'm running out of time."

A client?

Lisa examined the man once again. He was undoubtedly in sales.

"Lisa, what do you say?" Dinah smiled.

Lisa nodded firmly, "Okay! Let's go get married!"
