She was back. Her eyes-cold, calculating and dangerous-stared into mine.
This situation was eerily familiar. The way she stalked toward me, her hair in a halo around her face. The expensive leather jacket, the Louboutins clacking softly against the floor as she came closer.
The gun in her hand gleamed in the darkness and all I could do was stare at it, knowing this was the end. Knowing I would die right here, right now.
"No!" he shouted as she pointed the gun at me, resting the cold metal against my forehead.
He struggled against the men holding him, his blue eyes holding fury and wrath...holding fear because even he knew how this was sure to end.
The gun clicked and I just looked at him, taking in his beauty one last time.
"I love you," I mouthed to him, closing my eyes.
"NO!!!" he yelled as a shot rang out in the room.

"At last
My love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song"
-At Last, Etta James We were in France. Paris, to be exact. His arms held a tight grip around my waist as we stared up at the Eiffel Tower.
We had been married for 2 weeks 2 days 9 hours and 47 seconds. And it had been the happiest 2 weeks 2 days 9 hours and now 48 seconds of my life.
We were in our hotel room. The room gave us an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower and the streets of Paris.
"I'm going to miss it here," I said quietly.
He dipped his head down, sliding my silk robe from my shoulder and placing a kiss there.
I shivered as he slowly trailed his lips from my shoulder, across my neck and to my ear where he whispered, "I'll miss it, too."
I smiled a little and turned around to face him, catching my breath as my eyes met his. The deep blue of his eyes, the golden hair that was mussed due to the fact we had been exploring each other earlier that day.
My eyes roamed further, studying his muscular chest, his bulging biceps, the abs and the V-line that lead to the part of him that had given me so much pleasure, I was reluctant to leave the room even though I was in Paris. I just wanted to stay in bed with him, making love and forgetting about the world around us.
I put my hand on his chest and he immediately put his hand over mine, curling his hand around mine and giving me an intense stare.
"I'm not sure if I'm ready to share you with the rest of the world yet," I told him, grinning.
He smiled back, his eyes twinkling.
"I agree. I'm not ready to share you with the world either. I could stay with you like this for another forty or fifty years."
I simply nodded, feeling the same. I was rueful, very unwilling to leave tomorrow.
"But while we're here, we should make the most of it." His voice grew deeper, huskier and suddenly he was very close.
I grinned up at him as my heart swelled in anticipation.
"You know," I said, running my hands down his chest, tracing over the six pack and lightly tracing over the V-line, hearing him groan causing me to smile widely. "I think you're a nymphomaniac," I whispered, my voice coming out breathy.
He stared at me with a fire in his eyes that I knew well. I'd spent the past 2 weeks being overtaken by that fire over and over and over...
"Only with you, Yvonne," he said, his voice rough.
And then he reached for my robe, sliding it off of me and revealing my body, letting it slide to the floor.
That was the end of that conversation.
When we returned to Hawke manor, we were greeted by the staff. Housekeepers, the new bodyguard staff Liam had hired and Chauncey.
"I trust you had an amazing time in Paris," Chauncey said, hugging me.
I nodded, trying not to blush as I remembered how much fun I'd had in Paris.
We were escorted inside and as soon as the lights flickered on, we heard, "Surprise!" being exclaimed.
I looked around in astonishment. My eyes meeting theirs before I laughed.
Carole and William standing side by side. Lucas, my brother and the other Lucas, my half brother, standing next to each other. Then there was Ryan and Martia who were pressed close together -close enough to make me raise my eyebrows. I spotted Levi and Kayleen grinning madly at me. I saw my mom and dad, watching me with amused smiles on their faces. Liam's sister, Anna, was there with her two dashing little boys.
"Awwwww, you guys," I said, as Liam and I made our way to our family.
We were immediately engulfed in hugs and kisses. At some point I ended up surrounded by my best friends.
"Yvonne, how was Paris?" Kayleen wanted to know.
"Girl, fuck Paris," Levi interrupted. "I wanna know how was the D?"
I blushed and Martia nodded, clearly wondering this too.
"I know Liam has got to be hung," Martia said hurriedly as Levi nodded in excitement.
"You can tell by the way he walks," Levi agreed matter-of-factly.
Kayleen looked just as uncomfortable as I was. The blush on my face could be a nuclear bomb. They were right. Liam was very hung.
"I'm not telling you guys that!" I whisper hissed.
Levi and Martia stared at me, then looked at each other and smiled.
"Oh shit," Martia said in a singsong voice, dancing around.
"He's so hung he's got you blushing like I was when I saw Channing Tatum for the first time. He's so hung he's got you sweating like a sinner in church," Levi stated, taking his finger and running it across my forehead. Sure enough, his finger was drenched in my sweat.
I placed my hand on my forehead, completely unaware I was sweating so much. But I could feel the sweat on my forehead.
"Mmm-hmm, sitting over here trying to act all innocent," Levi teased. "Girl, you know you were riding him like a cowboy rides a horse." Levi laughed and Martia joined in.
I rolled my eyes at them, trying to feel annoyed but only smiling. I had missed them.
"Speaking of riding people," I looked at Martia. "I think you and Ryan have been doing a little riding of your own."
Levi laughed harder, nodding like he was saying, 'yasss, bitch.'
Martia's dark brown skin seemed to darken more and I knew she was blushing.
We all laughed, especially when her eyes flickered over in Ryan's direction.
"Why don't we go in now?" she whined, annoyed. "Their guards are down, we could easily kill them all."
The man sighed in frustration.
"Because," he said, "death would be too easy. A cat plays with the mouse before she kills it, mangles it until it is broken, unable to move and wishing for death. We will do the same."
Gretchen sighed. She knew William was right, but that didn't stop her from feeling impatient.
Especially when she saw Liam holding Yvonne in his arms and kissing her tenderly.
She ached for vengeance, ached for them both to pay for what they did to her.
She no longer wanted to only kill Yvonne, she was going to kill them all one by one. Levi, Martia, Kayleen, Carole and the fake William that had sentenced the real William Hawke who stood beside her, to purgatory on an island. Alone and suffering for years.
Finally, she was going to kill Yvonne while Liam watched. She was going to let him watch the light die from her eyes.
And finally, we he couldn't take it anymore, she'd kill him too.
