Mrs. Blake Is Calling Off the Wedding
Synopsis
Henry Blake, a lifelong bachelor, had his world turned upside down when his fiancee, a young girl from the countryside, abruptly called off their wedding. "Mr. Blake," his assistant informed him cautiously, "Madam is offering a million to call off the wedding." With steely determination, Henry responded, "Not a chance." Undeterred, the stakes were raised. "Mr. Blake, Madam has added 4 million to call off the wedding." A smirk played across Henry's lips as he retorted, "Make it 10 million instead. My answer remains unchanged." But the drama escalated further. "Madam is offering 20 million to call off the wedding!" Speechless, Henry wrestled with the realization that his fiancee was willing to pay any price to dissolve their union. Yet, he remained resolute, “That can never happen.”

↓
It was 7 p.m. on a night in July when the sunlight in the sky had yet to fade.
Nora Winston, who was dressed in a black casual suit, was standing in front of an anonymous tomb on Mount Tralor.
Her gorgeously delicate face showed a trace of gloom. "It will be ten years since I left the Winston family by tomorrow, Mom. I've kept your words in mind and have been restraining myself for ten years. I'll be returning to the Winston family tomorrow."
Everything was quiet around her. Only the wind was rustling.
Bang!
There was a loud noise. Nora tilted her head and narrowed her clear eyes. Then, she glanced at a place not far away.
There was a black car parked there with its body tilted. It had a flat tire.
A man, who was dressed in a black sports suit, got out of the car. He was swaying as he walked forward. It seemed that he was injured.
More than a dozen men were following him, who were all dressed in black suits.
Henry Blake looked back with some gloom on his indifferent face. He was covering his abdomen with one hand, his lips slightly pale.
"Stop running. We've paid such a huge price. You'll have no chance to escape." The men in black kept closing in on Henry. The leading one was giving off murdering intent all over with no expression on his face.
"Do you think you can catch me?" Henry narrowed his eyes as he spoke in a gloomy tone.
The sharp pain in his abdomen hit his brain. He felt the blood in him running out, and he probably couldn't hold on for long.
"We'll try to achieve that." After the leading man in black finished speaking, he attacked Henry.
"Huh?"
Right then, a stone from somewhere hit the assaulter in black. He felt his vision blur for a moment before he knelt on the ground.
The man's face changed drastically as he roared in a low voice, "Who did this?"
Nora's voice was faint and emotionless. "You're disturbing my mom's rest. If you are to fight, please do it somewhere else."
Those men all looked at Nora at the same time with a solemn look on their faces.
Even Henry showed a hint of shock in his gloomy eyes.
He was dealing with international killers, all of whom could fight ten men at once alone. However, one of them was knocked down by a stone thrown by this young girl, who was less than twenty years old.
Henry knew that she was extraordinary.
"Are you meddling in our business? You're asking for trouble!" The leading killer's face turned ferocious as he ordered in a low voice, "Kill her!"
The rest of the men in black immediately charged at her.
Nora narrowed her eyes a bit with some gloom in them.
"Watch out!" Before the men in black could rush up to Nora, Henry had already taken action.
Suddenly, Henry stopped in his tracks with disbelief in his dark eyes.
Those killers all fell in front of Nora before they could have a chance to make their moves.
However, she remained unmoved on the spot with a calm look on her face. She didn't even blink the slightest.
If it weren't for the outward movement of her hands, Henry would've believed that he was seeing things.
"Scram!" Nora raised her chin slightly as she spoke in a sullen tone.
Extremely terrified, the men in black looked at her in disbelief. "Who the hell are you? What did you do to us?"
Until then, they had no idea what Nora had done to them that made them fall.
They only saw that the girl raised her hand and sprinkled something like powder before they all fell.
During that period, they didn't even get to touch her hair.
Before Nora could answer, the men in black all passed out.
Nora looked down at them before she looked up at Henry, who was not far away.
As she glanced at him, it gave Henry a different feeling when he saw her clear and bright eyes.
After clearing his mind, Henry walked over and said in a gentle tone, "Thank you for your help."
Nora indifferently glanced at him. "I didn't do it to save you!"
She just didn't want to be disturbed while talking to her mother.
With that, Nora turned around and patted the tomb. "I'm leaving. Take care."
As she was about to leave, she was stopped by Henry. "May I know your name? I have to repay your favor someday."
"I wasn't trying to save you." Nora waved her hand and continued to walk forward.
"Wait..." Bang! Before Henry could continue, he fell straight down to the ground.
Nora turned around and knitted her brows. However, she still intended to leave right away.
Unexpectedly, there was suddenly a gust of gale around. Nora paused and looked up at the anonymous tomb. "Do you want me to save him?" Nothing answered her. After a moment of silence, Nora said in a helpless tone, "I'll save him then!"
Nora squatted down and lifted Henry's shirt. At a glance, she could tell that his abdomen was injured, and it was quite a serious injury.
However, it was not a big problem for her.
She took out a small bottle from the bag she had always carried with her and applied some powder to his injury. Then, she took out another bottle and fetched a pill from it before she put it into Henry's mouth.
If Henry were awake at that moment, he would surely realize that the pill he was given was the famous recovery pill that caused quite a shopping frenzy in the black market. A single one of those pills had been speculated to cost one million dollars, and one couldn't buy it easily due to its supply shortage.
After Nora gave Henry the pill, she no longer stayed and turned to leave.
"As long as I'm alive, Nora will never get to enter the Winston family's place!"
A loud and furious voice sounded throughout the villa of the Winston family in Royver.
In the middle of the living room, Nora looked up slightly at Pamela Winston, whose face was filled with fury. She then lowered her amorous eyes, which only had calmness in them.
Secretly, she showed a mocking smile on her face.
She had been picked up by her father, David Winston, back to the city. Before she could gain a foothold there, Pamela, the old Mrs. Winston, was told that Nora was back and asked her and David to come to Edwin's house. Edwin Winston was Nora's grandfather, the old Mr. Winston who made the family thrive.
As soon as Nora entered the house, Pamela made her stand, expressing that she didn't agree to Nora's return.
"Mom! Nora is my daughter, and she's your granddaughter."
David clenched his fists that were hanging down at his sides tightly. He was gritting his teeth as he was deliberately holding back.
It had been ten years since he had lost his daughter, and he was overjoyed that he finally managed to find her now. He had never expected his mother to not allow Nora to come back to the family. She even expressed that in front of the other members of the family, which utterly disrespected Nora.
"She doesn't deserve to be my granddaughter! I'll never see her as my kin!" Pamela slammed hard on the table. "I only have Cheryl as my granddaughter!"
Pamela turned to look at Nora. Her aged eyes were like a sharp knife that slashed at Nora.
Nora looked up a bit and met Pamela's eyes for a moment before she looked away.
She didn't care how Pamela was staring at her.
David looked up abruptly. "Since I've got Nora back, I won't let her leave me again. We've separated from the family anyway, so you're in no place to meddle in my business!"
"How dare you!" Pamela stood up suddenly and shouted in an angry voice, "If you dare to take her back to your place, I'll remove you from your position and take back your shares!"
David sneered. "My position? Shares? Mom, I'm merely working as a junior executive in the company now with a monthly base salary of 800 dollars. I've asked to leave the company, but you didn't allow me. As for the shares... haven't you taken back all of them?"
Pamela gritted her teeth. "How could you talk to me like this? Are you deliberately trying to go against me?"
She had never expected her son, who had always been vulnerable and incompetent, to go against her again and again for Nora.
She thought, 'I knew it. Nora and her deceased mother are disasters to the family. They have been doing nothing good but sowing discord between me and David.'
Just as David was about to say something, Cheryl Winston, who had been silent on the side, suddenly spoke. "Grandma, just agree to have Nora come back."
"Humph!" Pamela looked much kinder when she was talking to Cheryl, but she still snorted and said, "If Nora wishes to come back to us, she can just dream on!"
"But... Nora is Mr. Blake's fiancee!" Cheryl blinked with a smile on her face.
chapter 2 Ask My Fiancee to Call off the Engagement | Mrs. Blake Is Calling Off the Wedding

Everyone immediately quieted down.
"What are you talking about? Isn't Henry Blake's fiancee..." Before Pamela finished her sentence, she abruptly stood up. "That's right! It was Nora who was engaged to him. Now that she's back, you don't need to marry Henry Blake."
Everyone knew that Henry, the seventh son of the Blake family, which was the No. 1 noble family in Dresdon, was a playboy who had always been idle and hadn't done any decent work. He was a well-known good-for-nothing.
However, Albert Blake, the head of the Blake family and Henry's grandfather, doted on Henry much. In particular, in order to save Albert, Henry had become disabled, which made Albert dote on him more.
However, Henry had gone further and further by squandering Albert's money whenever he could.
Previously, the Blake family had sent someone over to the Winston Residence, claiming that the young lady of the Winston family was engaged to Henry and asking the Winston family to fulfill the engagement.
The young lady of the Winston family was none other than Cheryl.
Pamela flipped out right then. Although the Winston family couldn't be a match for the Blake family, Pamela had been educating Cheryl since the girl was young, and she was determined to have Cheryl marry an excellent man to take the Winston family to a higher level.
Although Henry had Albert's favor, he had no real power of his family, and the money he possessed was given by his parents and Albert.
If he didn't have any proper income, he would run out of his money one day. When that happened, he would spend Cheryl's money, if she was his wife.
Pamela surely didn't want Cheryl to marry Henry. However, since the Winston family had agreed to marry their daughter into the Blake family, it would be inappropriate for Pamela to call off the wedding, so she had been thinking about how to cancel the engagement during this period.
Now that Nora was back, her problem was settled, and she didn't have to turn the Blake family down. Pamela thought, 'Nora is just a country bumpkin anyway. She will be a perfect match for Henry Blake, who is just a disabled. If they get married, the Winston family will be in-laws with the Blake family. It will be two birds with one stone."
At the thought of that, Pamela immediately said, "Nora has my consent to be back in the family. You'll teach her about the proper manners she needs to learn. She will be officially engaged to Henry black in a month. She'd better not disgrace me at the engagement party."
David and Yvonne Sampson were stunned a bit and then looked at Pamela in disbelief.
They had yet to come back to their senses after hearing what Cheryl had said.
Soon, David looked up abruptly. "Engagement party? Isn't the one engaged to Henry Blake..."
"Nora is the eldest young lady of the Winston family, and she's the one engaged to Henry Blake. Since she's back now, of course, she will marry him."
Hearing those words, Yvonne frowned a bit and looked at Nora, feeling quite sorry for the girl.
She knew well what her mother-in-law was up to, which was so obvious.
No wonder Pamela agreed to have Nora back in the family so easily. She was up to no good.
Everyone in the city knew that Henry was disabled.
Back then, Pamela didn't want Cheryl to marry Henry, but now she was asking Nora to marry him.
"No!" David roared in a low voice with a darkened look on his face. "It was Cheryl who was engaged to Mr. Blake."
"Dad, it's not that I don't wish to marry Henry Blake. It's just that Nora is the eldest young lady of the Winston family. If the Blake family finds out about this after I marry into them, they will hold me accountable for deceiving them..." Cheryl spoke in an ambiguous manner. She looked down slightly with a hint of a scheming look in her eyes.
"That's right!" Pamela nodded immediately. "We can't afford to offend the Blake family."
"You're unbelievable!" David was so furious that his face flushed red.
Pamela didn't bother to talk to him. Instead, she looked at Nora. "If you want to be a member of the Winston family again, you must get engaged to Henry Blake."
Nora looked up when her eyes happened to meet Pamela's. There was a sharp look in her clear gaze.
After a long while, she said in a calm voice, "Alright! I'll get engaged to him!"
She had to be back in the Winston family.
As for the engagement, she happened to call off the wedding with Henry by returning to the Winston family this time. At the thought of that, Nora showed a faint smile on her face.
After coming out of Edwin's house, Nora followed David and Yvonne to their place.
Eight years ago, David was kicked out of Edwin's house by Pamela. Now, he and his family lived in the Tinsor Community, which was quite far away from the downtown area.
The buildings in the community were quite old and worn out, and even the walls were peeling since they hadn't been repaired for years.
David and his family lived in an apartment with three bedrooms.
After Nora excused herself to David, she went to her bedroom.
Since she had just arrived in the apartment, she hadn't unpacked her luggage.
Just as she entered the bedroom, there was a knock on the door.
She got up and opened the door when she saw David and Yvonne standing there, hesitating to say something.
"What's up, Mr. Winston?" Nora moved aside so that David could come in.
"Something's up." David pursed his lips and didn't know how to go on with the topic.
"What is it? Just tell me?" Nora had David take her seat while she stood aside.
"I want to call off the engagement for you."
Nora looked up at him in surprise.
Yvonne walked over. Sitting on the bed, she took Nora's hand and explained in a soft voice, "Things are like this. Your dad thinks that marriage is a big deal, and Henry Blake is disabled. If you marry him, you'll have to take care of him for the rest of his life. David wants you to marry someone with a decent personality, who will treat you well wholeheartedly and always protect you..."
After a brief pause, Yvonne continued, "However, your mother was the one who set the engagement, so we still need to ask for your opinion."
Although she hadn't been in much contact with Nora, she felt sorry for the girl since Henry was not a decent guy.
So what if the Blake family had much power and money?
The engagement was a trap. If Nora married him, she would be ruined.
Looking at Yvonne, Nora showed a faint smile on her indifferent face. "Well, I do intend to call off the engagement."
Yvonne was David's second wife and Nora's stepmother.
Nora didn't dislike her after getting along with her for a few hours.
Nora could tell that David and Yvonne were sincerely being considerate of her future.
"Great!" David stood up excitedly. "I'll contact the Blake family right away to call off the engagement."
On Mount Trailor, three figures were standing in front of an anonymous tomb deep in the forest.
The one standing on the left was a man dressed in fashion clothes and stud earrings. He tilted his head and looked at the man with a slender body next to him. "Mr. Blake, it's been two days, and the girl hasn't returned. I guess she's not coming over, so we might as well leave now."
"Wait a little longer." The man in the middle looked at the anonymous tomb in front of him with his slender eyes. There was something sparkling in his dark eyes.
He was dressed in a black casual suit. His scattered hair shielded a side of his gorgeously handsome face, which had a sense of gloom on it.
He was none other than Henry Blake, the seventh son of the Blake family, the young master who was known as a good-for-nothing.
The one who advised Henry to leave was Anton Drake, the young master of the Drake family, which was ranked third in Dresdon.
"Stop wasting your time here. If you keep waiting, you'll miss the engagement party with the eldest young lady of the Winston family." Anton touched his earlobe and laughed in a low voice. "That's the famous talented girl in Royver, who was engaged to you when she was young. Your grandpa has instructed repeatedly that nothing can go wrong at the engagement party."
Henry showed a faint smile on his indifferent face. "Hasn't the Winston family called off the engagement yet?"
"The Blake family is the No. 1 family in Dresdon, so why would the Winston family dare to call off the engagement? Even if you're a disabled good-for-nothing, the Winston family would never cancel the engagement! Moreover, you're not disabled!"
If the Winston family knew that Henry was not disabled, and he was much more than a good-for-nothing, they would never intend to call off the engagement.
"I see." The light in Henry's eyes dimmed.
He was thinking that it would not be fun if the Winston family didn't call off the engagement.
Seeing the look on his face, Anton knew that he had wasted his breath on him.
He directly dropped the topic. "Since your savior is not coming over, let's just leave. When I reach the famous miss in my school, we'll get to save Heather."
Henry gave him a look. "The famous miss? Does she even exist?"
Anton was rendered speechless and furious.
After a long while, he said angrily, "Of course, she does! The famous miss is pretty and kind. She can make the dead come back to life with her amazing medical skills..."
Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by the one standing on the right side of Henry. "Mr. Drake, you know neither her name nor her appearance. You can't even remember the route to your master's place, but you're still bragging about the alleged miss's medical skills. Does she exist in your dreams? We'd better contact the miracle-working doctor, Dr. Ghosty from the Black Alliance, instead of reaching her for treatment."
Jasper Hawk wondered, 'Make the dead come back to life? Even the professors of the medical institutes wouldn't dare to make such exaggerating promises.'
Agitated, Anton shouted, "How dare you say that? The famous miss is real and is not from my dreams. She does exist! Besides, Dr. Ghosty is always elusive and has a weird personality. Whether he performs treatment depends on his mood. We've been looking for him for so long, but we haven't got any news about him. Perhaps he won't bother to take orders at all. I'm doubting his alleged medical skills, which might be inferior to the famous miss's!"
He was wondering, 'Jasper is just so inexperienced! He's nothing but a normal guy, so why would he understand how capable the famous miss is? During my apprenticeship back then, she had never mentioned her name. Now that ten years have passed, she must look different from the way she looked back then. However, I believe that I'll recognize her when I see her.'
"Alright, alright. She's real." Jasper didn't want to keep arguing with Anton, who had a kind of abnormal obsession toward the alleged miss.
Henry squinted at the two of them sideways before he looked away and bowed to the anonymous tomb. Then, he turned to leave. "Let's go."
"Where are we going, Mr. Blake?" asked Jasper.
Henry smiled and said, "To Royver. I'll ask my fiancee to call off the engagement!"
