Chapter one Unsettling Premonition | My Spiteful Husband

My name was Darcy Feld, and I was thirty years old.

Compared to my peers, I was always well off. Not only did I live in a Villa in a upmarket residential areas in , my handsome and thoughtful husband loved me very much and all those around me said he was a perfect match.

His name was Jermario Madden, and he used to be a somewhat famous senior stylist. Before that, I ran a medical equipment company and had a substantial annual income.

After marriage, I gave birth to three adorable babies. Balancing both my career and taking care of the children was a lot to handle, so Jermario kindly resigned and took charge of the company. Under his management, the company thrived. As for me, I decided to be a full-time housewife and enjoy life, taking care of Jermario and children. My friens and my families thought I was the happiest wife in the world.

However, I noticed that my health was deteriorating day by day. I started to experience excessive hair loss, increasing sleepiness, weight loss, declining memory, a lack of motivation, and a feeling of being lost.

Jermario said that I was a typical case of mental anxiety disorder. He searched for famous doctors and prescribed me a lot of medicine, instructing the nanny to make it for me on time.

Little did I know, this was the beginning of a close call with death.

One day, I was awakened from a deep sleep by a piercing pain in my head. Carelessly, I knocked over the medicine that the nanny, Zanye, had brought for me. Seizing the opportunity while I was still struggling with drowsiness, that cat licked up the medicine.

By the time I realized what had happened, it had already jumped onto the windowsill, leisurely licking its paws.

When Zanye came to collect the bowl, I didn't mention this incident at all, so she wouldn't have to make the medicine again.

To be honest, I had had enough of this medicine long ago and it was absolutely useless. If it weren't for Jermario's hard work in finding it and his careful instructions that I should take it on time, I would have thrown it away for sure.

Ever since I fell ill, the burden of the whole household has fallen on the shoulders of the nanny, Zanye. She is always busy, working tirelessly every day. Sometimes, I feel a bit guilty about it.

After chatting with me for a few moments, she quickly took the empty bowl and went to work.

I turned my head and glanced at the pillowcase, which was covered in a layer of black hair. It was a bit disturbing to look at. With a sigh, I reached out and collected the fallen hair, bundling it up and casually putting it in the pocket of my loungewear.

Suddenly, there was a muffled sound behind me, which startled me

I paused on my chest for a while before carefully turning to the other side of the bed, only to find Kitty, who was leisurely looking out the window, had fallen to the ground. It lay there motionless and silent.

It lay there motionless and silent.

I felt a sense of ominous premonition.

"Kitty!" I called out, but it didn't move at all.

I felt nervous and scared all of a sudden.

This was a situation it had never experienced before. The cat had a strong life force and excellent balance, so how was it possible for it to fall from the windowsill and act like this?

Is it dead?

My heart was hanging in my throat as I cautiously observed, and I found its breathing was weak. It didn't seem dead, more like it was sleeping.

But it was weird.

Suddenly, a terrifying thought flashed through my mind.

Instinctively, I jumped out of bed, without caring about anything else, and reached out to pick up Ruiva. It was limp, completely unaware, and defenseless.

I couldn't help but think of myself, whether I slept like it.

Could it be...

This thought flashed through my mind and I shuddered, feeling as if I had fallen into an ice cave. I dared not continue to think about it。

Before I could even think it through, footsteps could be heard from outside the door. It must be Jermario coming back.

Instinctively, I held Kitty tightly and quickly got onto the bed. I pulled the covers over Kitty, who had an odd condition and adjusted my breathing to pretend to be sleeping.

At the same time, the door handle made a clicking sound, and I was so nervous. I could even feel his gaze, causing me a lingering pain. My hand trembled uncontrollably under the covers.

However, he did not come in. Instead, he left. Just as the door was about to close, I heard Jermario ask, "Did she take the medicine?"

I couldn't hear what he said after that.

I suddenly opened my eyes and felt an unprecedented fear. I didn't even know whether I was experiencing a nightmare.

The scene in front of me couldn't help but remind me of that bowl of medicine.

I had raised Kitty for many years, and it had never been in this state. The only difference was that it just drank the bowl of medicine that I had.

This thought made me terrified upon careful consideration.

Could it be true that someone wanted to harm me?

Chapter Two Unbearable Speculations | My Spiteful Husband

I kept thinking about what Jermario and Zanye had been doing lately, and I try to confirm my speculations, but deep inside, I was vehemently denying them.

No matter what, I could not accept this.

It was impossible.

Jermario loved me.

From our acquaintance, to falling in love, and getting married, and raising our three adorable children, he had always been caring, devoted, and considerate towards me.

In the past decade, we had never argued once, and his tenderness towards me made me believe him unquestionably. How could he do such a thing to me?

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

But Zanye had no reason to hurt me either.

Before she was empolyed, I didn't even know her. We had no grudges or conflicts in recent times. Her salary was definitely among the top in the industry.

When she first came to our house, it was me who chose her. She was two years older than me and looked neat and tidy. After graduating from high school, she entered this line of work and became an outstanding professional housekeeper.

When I employed her, Jermario seemed somewhat dissatisfied and quietly asked me, "She is too young, and is she up to the job?"

"Do you think the younger ones are unreliable? How pretty she is. She's efficient in her work and a professional housekeeper. You're too picky." I teased him, "I'm the one who should be uneasy because of her beauty."

He softly pinched my face and replied, "What are you thinking? Don't talk nonsense!"

He pulled me into his embrace, compromising as he nibbled on my earlobe, "Alright, as long as she feels right to you. After all, she's working for you. She's the one who spends every day with you. I'm just afraid that young ones won't stay for long before we have to change again. It's quite vexing."

I never expected Zanye to be so reliable. It had been almost 8 years now. I could confidently say that we have a harmonious relationship. I treated her like my sister. How could she possibly drug me?

Furthermore, if it were her, Jermario wouldn't have failed to notice that something was off with me after taking medication, and wouldn't have neglected the effectiveness of the medicine.

I really dared not think further.

I didn't know if it was because I didn't drink that bowl of medicine or if it was because the cat's condition scared me, but anyway, I changed from my usual drowsiness and was sober and energetic.

Fear prevented me from sleeping.

Such a long and provoking night.

What was even more frustrating for me was that throughout this process, not a person had observed my condition, let alone asked if I had eaten.

I knew that in the past, every day I slept alone and was ignored by them.

It seemed like Jermario was not as caring and concerned about me as he appeared to be.

Just like tonight, he didn't show his concern as I expected. Could it be that he had grown accustomed to my bouts of unconsciousness?

As the day slowly brightened, Kitty, who had been in a deep sleep under the covers, also gradually regained consciousness.

At first, its gaze was unfocused and it let out a weak sound.

Then after a while, it started moving its four limbs, and a little later, it stretched forcefully, flipped over, curled up its limbs, and nestled beside me, returning to its original sleeping position. However, it still appeared lazy and lacked energy, indicating that it hadn't fully woken up yet.

This situation was remarkably similar to how I felt every time I woke up, deepening my speculation.

Feeling helpless, I embraced Kitty in my arms and buried my face in its soft fur, silently crying.

I didn't understand why this was happening and who drugged me.

After a long while, I made up my mind, telling myself that I couldn't just wait for death. I had to find the truth.

With a firm decision in mind, I knew I couldn't let them realize that I'd discovered an anomaly in the medication. and had to continue sleeping.

First, I needed to figure out who administered the drug and what their purpose was.

Thinking about this, I still held a glimmer of hope and preferred to believe that it was Zanye who did this, which would make it easier for me to accept.

But reality hit me hard, striking with a sharp pain that pierced me deeply.

Moreover, it was even harsher than imagined.
