EVOLET.
“You are going nowhere near that mansion! That place isn’t for Omega’s like ourselves,” my mother said, denying me the chance of joining my mates at the Alpha’s home.
But she’s failing to see the opportunity that lies before us here.
Two days ago, Queen Chriselda, mother of our ruler, Alpha Allen, made a public announcement, inviting all the damsels of WOLF FALL PACK to the mansion, to take part in a LUNA HUNT for her son.
Since that day, every maiden have been rushing down to the mansion to shoot their shot, knowing the benefit that lies in that title called LUNA, if Alpha Allen picks one of them.
And with full confidence, I know if I should take part in this hunt, I have a high chance of being the Alpha’s Luna, and saving my mother and I from this poverty we live in.
But my mother… She doesn’t seem to have any faith in me.
She’s different from other mothers that are pushing their daughters to the mansion. She has chosen to hold me down, so I won’t join.
I ... I don’t know why she's doing this to me.
“The Alpha isn’t the only man in this world. When it’s time, I’ll get you a suitor that fits our class,” she said, walking into the kitchen with no care at all.
I felt hurt hearing this from her mouth.
Class! Is this where she wants us to remain forever? A family of poor omegas with no reputation at all?
Upset, I voiced out at once to my mother, “The Alpha may not be the only man in this world, but he’s the ruler in search of a mate. This is something that other wolves know, Mom! They… they heard the Queen’s notice, that’s why they are sending their daughters to the… ”
“And so?!” Mom interrupted, turning around to face me with a glare.
When I saw those raging eyes, my whole body shivered, reminding myself who was before me.
“Are you saying your mother is stupid and doesn’t know what is right for her child?! Is that what you’re saying, Evolet?!” she raised her voice, drawing closer to me.
In fear, I lowered my head down and said, “No, Mom. I… I didn’t mean it that way. I was just…”
“You know nothing, girl!” she silenced me before I could finish my statement. “I am your mother and I know what’s best for my child,” she said.
Her tone left me shaking in my spot. I carefully reached for my black necklace around my neck, holding it close while praying to the goddess to take this storm away.
That’s when Mom sighed out, placing her hands on my shoulders, causing me to lift my head and face her.
She was calm, but in her eyes, I could tell she wasn’t done yet. “My girl, you are nothing like the others. Some might be Omegas like us, but they have something that can help them in this Luna hunt, and it’s something you don’t possess. A wolf. You don't have one... and you're weak. ”
Ouch. What a nice way to ruin my hopes.
“Have you forgotten that you can’t summon or even feel your beast? What if the Queen throws that question at you or orders ou to summon what you can't bring during the game? Won't that be shameful?” Mom questioned, crossing her arms.
Though I felt sad hearing her words, still I gave her a response, “I know it’s taking long for me to unleash my wolf, but that doesn’t me I can’t feel it. I know I have a one inside.”
“Still, quit deceiving yourself and take out that thought of being in the hunt. You don't belong there and will never be among the damsels. It’s for your own good. Just accept it,” she scoffed, turning her back once again.
My heart sank with bitterness on hearing my mother. She’s always like this. She never supports my dreams, but downgrades me for being wolfless.
As I drew my steps back from her, she said, “I’ve told you, Eve. Don’t go against me and join the game. You don’t belong there.”
“Yes, mother, “ I said with a broken heart, exiting the kitchen with my eyes welling with tears.
.
“That’s harsh. She shouldn’t have said that,” Fiona, my only friend, commented on what I told her.
I had left the house to see my best friend, who was waiting for me under a tree at the center of the park. As we strolled, I told her what went down with mom and I, and it made her upset.
She didn’t like what my mother had said and tried to comfort me. But as we kept on talking, Fiona suddenly took my Mom’s side. “You know she’s right. How will you feel when Queen Chriselda asks if you have a wolf? She will humiliate you before all.”
“Fiona, I’ve told you already. I can feel my wolf inside.”
“And if she says prove it, what will you do?” she lifted her brow, leaving me silent. “It’s best you listen to your Mom, Eve. She’s looking out for you. I know things are really hard for you guys. Maybe it’s best if…” she directed her hand to my necklace with a smile and said, “You know… sell some things for cash? I don’t mind buying this necklace from you.”
“No way,” I refused, slapping her hand off it. “ I’m not selling this. You know how precious it is to me.”
“Yeah, Yeah, I know,” she giggled, pulling me along, as we strolled off from the pack square, arriving outside the large gate of the Alpha’s mansion.
We watched different ladies of our age, trooping in like crazy. They were excited.
“Bleh! Thank the goddess I have no interest in the Alpha. I have better things to do with my life,” Fiona bragged, telling me how she stopped her mother from forcing her to join the hunt.
I felt a bit envious of her courage, but sad I was nothing like her. And it’s all because of that night at a fancy party Fiona snuck me into some weeks ago.
We were being wild and found ourselves running away from the bodyguards, only to get separated by accident.
I ended up hiding in a room where I met him, Alpha Allen, all alone at the balcony, looking out to the sky.
He noticed my presence and stopped me from leaving when I got scared on seeing him.
I still remember how he held me close and spoke softly, admiring my beauty with desire in his eyes. “ You’re beautiful. If I had a diamond ring right now, it would be around your finger.”
I was moved by this side of the Alpha, who went as far as stealing my heart with a kiss, leaving me craving for his touch every blessed seconds and minutes.
But that moment didn’t last, because I ran off, unable to contain the heat. And ever since he gave me my first kiss, I’ve been lost in love, wishing I never ran away that night.
“This hunt… I know he planned this to search for me. I need to take part no matter what,” I said from within, recalling the passionate moment I had with the Alpha.
Ignoring Fiona’s advise, I told my friend I was going to join the hunt and become the Luna. “I have made up my mind.”
There was a sudden pause from Fiona, who stared at me for a brief moment, before letting out a smile.
“As you wish,” she said, pulling me close for a hug, and assuring me of her support. “Know that I’ll always be by your side.”
“Thank you, Fiona,” I appreciated, squeezing her close.
That’s when my eyes caught sight of a young man in black leather jacket, leaning close to the mansion gate, watching Fiona and me.
The way he stared was kind of weird. It made me wonder if Fiona had something on her back, or if the brown hair fellow was just being a perv, gawking at her butt.
But I realized I was wrong when this perv winked at me with a smirk, leaving me stunned!
He’s looking at me?
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Fiona asked, breaking the hug. “Is everything okay?”
Just when I was about to tell her about the debauch fellow, he was gone. It was as if he vanished, because I didn’t see when he moved.
“It’s nothing,” I lied, not bothering to tell my friend.
And with a smile, Fiona escorted me through the gate, so I could join the others in signing up for the Luna hunt.
“I pray you win this hunt,” Fiona wished for me with so much love in her eyes.
This is why she was my friend. She understood me more than my own mother.
She was the best.

EVOLET.
Stepping into line with other damsels, I had my eyes hovering around the large building, hoping to spot the Alpha.
But no sign of him.
I was getting bored on the long queue, wishing Fiona hadn’t left to attend to an urgent work at home. But soon, that boredom was wiped off when suddenly… “Queen Chriselda!” every damsel present cheered on seeing the Alpha’s mother, walking out of the mansion with her trusted seer, Thelma, an elderly and well-respected sorceress of our pack.
Her presence bloomed every maiden’s heart, as we all bowed, welcoming the Alpha’s mother.
In her sweet voice, she welcomed us all, announcing her plans for every maidens that wish to be the Luna, “The games will begin tomorrow. You need to be fully prepared for it, because it’s going to be tough. You won’t be asked questions only, but given tasks to prove yourself to my son, why you’re worthy of becoming his Luna. Is it by your actions or by your beautiful transformations? All that would be answered when we begin.”
I gulped down, recalling my mother’s harsh words, when she pointed out what the queen would do when she discovers I can’t summon my wolf.
That got me praying for one thing. “Goddess, let Alpha Allen see me. Then he wouldn’t bother to go ahead with this game,” I smiled, having faith in my love for him.
She wished us well in our journey and her sorceress reminded us of something special, that we considered a tradition in our pack. “And don’t forget to seek blessings from our beloved late Queen, Luna Violet. May her goodness be with you all,” The sorceress said, waving at us.
As instructed, when a maiden signed her name down, she would walk up to the big statue of late Luna Violet, which was situated near the gate, and seek their blessings at her feet. When it came to my turn, I signed my name down with delight before rushing up to the statue, with my eyes fixed on the face of the late Queen.
As far as I remember the story, the late Luna was the one who found Wolf Fall pack and made it the place it is today. She brought peace during her reign, from the Vampires, Werecats, other creatures, and down to the Werewolves. Be it far and near, she built a harmonious bond with every being.
Until those creatures ganged up against we werewolves, killing our innocent Luna. Since then, werewolves have been at war with both vampires, werecats, and outsiders, which brought about the reign of Luna Chriselda, who made it her goal to lead her people to peace.
She has been doing well as a leader, as well as Alpha Allen. But still, I wish I had met Luna Violet. She’s my number one role model.
“Bless me, Luna Violet. I wish to be the Luna of this pack just like you, and rule with love and peace,” I prayed, lowering down to touch her feet.
The moment I grazed the feet of the statue, I noticed another hand right next to mine. It wasn’t a lady’s, but… a man’s.
I immediately looked to my side and found that perv from earlier, smirking at me!
My whole body shivered as I drifted away from this weirdo, who carefully touched the feet of the statue and kissed his hand, saying, “May her blessings be with us forever.” Then, he directed his gaze at me again, smiling!
“It’s you! Have… Have you been following me?!” I questioned out loudly, hoping to get the attention of a guard. But there was none in sight.
“Following you?” the stranger laughed, swaying his head. “And what makes you think I’d waste my time chasing you? Are you from a rich family or perhaps the queen herself?” he mocked, shimmering his deep black eyes at me.
What he said left me feeling embarrassed. I thought I was being too jumpy over the situation, only for this creep to prove me right in split seconds.
“But if you are craving for a stalker to admire your behind, then I’d gladly be your man.” He winked, biting down on his lower lip, seductively!
Pervert, I knew it!
Luckily, I spotted two guards coming. I called out to them, so they’d get rid of this freak, but the perv immediately ran away before the guards could lay their eyes on him.
“Creepy-crawly subvert. I pray they get you one day,” I frowned, exiting the mansion.
As I journeyed home, I thought of keeping this news away from my mother, until I am able to prove to her that someone like me can get into the hunt without a wolf.
“Oh Goddess! Please when the Queen asks and I tell her the truth, do touch her heart so she accepts me. Or send Alpha Allen to my rescue,” I prayed, slowly arriving home.
As soon as I stepped into the house, I was frightened by my mother, who greeted me from behind the door, terrifying me.
“Mom, you scared me.” I smiled, trying to control my fear while walking into the house.
“Where are you coming from?” she questioned, moving away from the door, and drawing nearer to me.
“Fiona’s place,” I lied, trying to keep my cool without turning around to face her.
“Fiona huh?” she uttered, sounding spooky.
I swallowed, nodding my head. “I know I stayed too long with her, but she needed my help in finishing some works. But… But I still returned home early. It’s five in the ev…”
Before I could complete my statement, I felt my shoulder being gripped hard and my body turned over with speed.
All of a sudden, WHAM! My head went turning to the side with force, leaving me in shock!
Mom… she landed a slap across my face, causing my whole body to shiver at her action!
“How dare you lie to me, Evolet?!” she roared, grabbing my top and forcing me to face her!
“I told you not to sign up for the hunt, but you disobeyed me! How could you?!”
“What?!” I was startled by what she said. How did she know?! Did she follow me to the mansion?!
“You ungrateful child!” Furiously, she tossed me to the ground, sparking out in anger. “You thought your foolish mother wouldn’t find out, huh?! You concluded that your mother was stupid and can’t control you anymore! Isn’t that right?!”
”Mom, what are you talking about?”
“SHUT IT!” She shouted, lifting her hand to smack me again. I went silent at once, afraid of getting struck on the face.
But that fear soon turned into shock when Mom said in rage, “You claimed you were helping Fiona at her place, when your friend came here to tell me about your secret plan in getting into the hunt!”
“Fiona?” I was appalled, finding it hard to believe my own best friend would betray me after promising to stand by my side!
“She told me everything, Eve! How you refused to listen to her words and went to the Alpha’s home despite her plea!” She kicked my legs in anger, puffing out steam.
This has to be a lie. Fiona wouldn’t do this to me. Mom… Mom is trying to fish the truth out of me. Fiona can’t betray me!
