Chapter 1 | REBIRTH: Ex-Wife Returns With A Bang

Ocean's POV.

“Congratulations, Mrs. Ocean, you are pregnant… four weeks pregnant,” Doctor Israel divulged the second he walked into the room where I was waiting for him.

With a smile spreading across my lips, I stood up from the bed and walked closer to him, my eyes glistening with joy.

“Are you… are you being serious? Am I finally pregnant again?” I asked with a tinge of excitement in my tone.

He chuckled softly before handing the paper to me. “Check it out if you still have doubts.”

I received the result sheet from him and, scanning through each word on the paper, I felt an intense sense of joy coursing through my veins. My eyes became moist as I recalled what had happened the last time I was pregnant.

After that mistake, I begged to have a seed in my tummy, and now that it had happened, I couldn't hold in the joy. Just as I was still staring at the paper, I heard Doctor Isreal.

“Ocean?” he called out, making me lift my head to meet his gaze in anticipation and confusion.

“Is there a problem? Will something happen to my baby?” I snapped, trying to understand why he had called me, and even more confusing, he had a sad look in his eyes.

“No, Ocean… nothing is going to happen to your baby. I just want you to believe in yourself this time, no matter what anyone says! You don't need to risk your life to prove a point again. You…” he was going to say, but I had already gotten uncomfortable.

I cut in sharply, “Thank you for your words, Doctor Israel, but I'll be leaving now. I'm sure my husband is back home.” I stuttered before grabbing my bag and leaving the room he was in.

Shutting the door, I paused for a brief second to catch my breath. I looked at the paper in my hand and just then, a painful smile spread across my lips.

For a second, I wished Doctor Israel didn't have to bring up the past. If there was anything I disliked so much, it was recalling that day, the day I had almost died because of my actions.

I had returned home two years ago with a pregnancy result in my hand. I was so happy that I couldn't wait to get home, but the second I did, I was met with disapproval.

My husband, Sven Goodman, the popular and rich billionaire in Sin City whom I was made to marry because of my parents' request to marry him on my foster sister's behalf, asked me to abort my child.

He claimed he wasn't ready for a baby at that moment. I didn't want to, but no matter how I tried to please him, it just wouldn't work. It just wasn't worth it.

In order to show him how much I loved him and wanted to stay with him, I took the dangerous step of ignoring Doctor Isreal. With a broken heart, I went ahead and aborted my third unborn child because of Sven. He never came to see me; he never acted like he cared for me.

Leaving the hospital, I broke into tears. I just wished to get back home, but unfortunately, I realized I had begun to lose a lot of blood. Before I could turn around and head back to the hospital, I felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground.

I had almost died that day, but someone saved me. But that was in the past, right? There was definitely no way it would repeat itself.

Sven had gotten everything he wanted and wouldn't ask me to abort my child, right? I thought inwardly.

A heavy sigh escaped my lips at this moment. “I hope he accepts you.”

Without a second thought, I left the hospital, my mind racing with every possibility that he would accept me with open arms.

Getting out of the hospital, I got into my car, turned on the engine, and headed back home. The second I arrived, I was greeted by Sandra, my chief maid in the mansion.

“Is Sven at home?” I asked, and instantly, she nodded.

“He has been at home. He asked about you too when he couldn't find you,” she informed, her words pleasing to the ear.

He asked about me? I pondered briefly, my heart racing rapidly. With a smile on my lips, I rushed to the room to meet him.

The minute I pushed the door open, I caught sight of him on the bed with a document in his grip. When he lifted his eyes to meet mine, he reluctantly hid the document under his pillow.

“What's…” I was going to ask because the Sven I knew never brought work back home. But he cut in sharply.

“Where have you been all this while?” he asked with a deep, indifferent tone as he gazed at me.

“Sorry I couldn't inform you. It all happened too fast. I felt dizzy and decided to head to the hospital,” I informed him.

He nodded his head, stood up from the bed, and prepared to walk out, but I stopped him, standing before him.

“Is there anything else?” His brows raised as he questioned.

“Aren't you going to ask why I went there?”

“Ask? You've said it yourself, Ocean. You felt dizzy. You have your own business to handle, and I get it, but please, don't meddle in mine when the time comes,” he uttered reluctantly, his lack of care stabbing me harshly.

He walked past me and opened the door. He had begun to head out, but my next statement halted him right in his tracks, “I am pregnant, Sven, four weeks pregnant.” I finally divulged, knowing I had to tell him now or never.

Sven halted swiftly, slamming the door harshly before turning his gaze to me. “You are joking right now, right? You can't be pregnant for me! You haven't been pregnant for two years now!”

“I am, Sven, and it's for you. I went to the hospital today and confirmed it with Doctor Isreal. I know you are so glad to know about this. This is the best…” I was still saying, but his cold and harsh words struck me like a bolt of lightning.

“Get rid of it, Ocean!” he lashed out with a scowl fixed on me.

I paused briefly, my heart skipping a beat. “What?” I exclaimed in confusion and shock.

“Look, Ocean, I don't know what dirty plans you have up in your head, but I am not going to be a father to that thing in your tummy. Not now, not ever! This is a mistake, and I want you to know that…” he shot without thinking twice.

“Get it out of the way if you still want to be here,” he added bluntly.

I couldn't believe what he was saying. He didn't think about me as he spoke. His words made it difficult for me to think straight.

“I'll send the money to you to…”

“No! No, Sven. I can't get rid of this baby. Not again, please.” My eyes became moist and blurry as I said to him.

“The last time I got rid of my unborn child, I almost died. I was near death. I can't do this again. What if I die in the act?” My voice became shaky as I asked, but his response remained colder than the last.

“Then it'll be all over, Ocean. After all, dying should have happened a long time ago. Get rid of that thing before dawn,” he blurted out before turning on his heels and dashing out of the house.

I couldn't stop him, I couldn't change his mind, just like other times. It was difficult to get a hold of him too. His harsh words still lingered in my mind as I fell to the ground. My heart ached deeply at the thought of aborting my child again.

I sat on the ground, broken-hearted and in regret that I didn't realize how late it was and when it had begun to rain.

I stood up and walked towards the window with tears still in my eyes. I thought about Sven as I looked outside the window. I wouldn't want him to catch a cold, so I tried to call him, but call after call, there was no response from him.

I was going to give up calling, but just then, my phone rang. Slowly, I picked it up. It was Sven calling, but placing it to my ear, her voice rang out.

“Hello, sister,” it was Chloe, my foster sister. “Sven came to my house drunk, so don't worry much about him, okay?”

I paused briefly before speaking up, “I'll come get him then,” but before I could finish my words, she cut in.

“Don't bother coming, Ocean. You know how Sven is… he'll get angry seeing your face here. Don't worry, okay? I'll take care of him and bring him back by dawn. Goodnight!” Before I could say another word, she ended the call, leaving me hanging.

“What are you up to this time, Chloe?” I muttered in a hushed whisper as a tear trickled down my pale cheeks.

Chapter 2 | REBIRTH: Ex-Wife Returns With A Bang

Ocean's POV.

My eyes fluttered open, and the first thought that popped into my mind was that Sven would hate me for not getting rid of the baby as he had asked.

How could I, when my life was hanging by a thread, and even worse, I had no child of my own? Sitting up, I rubbed my tummy gently, tears welling up in my eyes again.

“I'll protect you, no matter what,” I whispered softly, knowing full well that I had a connection with my child.

I was still having a moment when the loud ring of my phone cut through my thoughts, making me pause briefly before turning to the nightstand beside me.

Oddly, it was Chloe calling. I recalled that she had stayed with Sven all night. They had both stayed together like I didn't matter, like I had no feelings.

After Chloe had finished schooling at a private university, she began to date Sven, but along the line, she found someone richer than Sven. She married him, leaving Sven on the edge three days before their wedding.

I was the only option. The Goodman family didn't want to feel embarrassed, so they came for me. I didn't want to marry Sven, but Mom and Dad forced me. I saw Sven was good to Chloe, so I decided to marry him.

I thought he'd treat me like her, but this has been hell for me. It was either I get belittled by the Goodman family because of their wealth or have an abortion. Even worse, I was living a loveless life. It broke me, but I kept believing that things would change soon.

Or not… After Chloe's husband died in a plane crash and she returned to Sin City, Sven has always wanted to hang out with her, forgetting I ever existed.

Well, to him, I never did.

With a heavy sigh, I reluctantly reached for the phone, and placing it to my ear, I waited for her to speak.

“Ocean, can we please meet up? Please. This is urgent,” she begged softly. I didn't want to be the wicked sister, so I accepted without bringing up the fact that Sven had stayed with her all night.

“Send the address, I'll be there soon,” I assured her before ending the call. I got up from my bed, got dressed, and left the mansion.

With the address she had given me, I drove to meet her. Arriving at the Tavern, I brought the car to a screeching halt before climbing out. I got into the place, the smell of fancy woods wafting through my nostrils.

“Ocean!” I heard Chloe call out from where she sat. She waved at me. I walked towards her seat and, taking a seat before her, I couldn't help but notice the disgust in her eyes as she stared at me from head to toe.

“Why did you call me?” I asked, wanting to get straight to the point.

“Don't you want a drink? I can…” She lifted her hand to order, but I stopped her.

“I'm fine, Chloe. Let's just get to it. I have other things to do,” I uttered bluntly.

“Don't be in a haste. By the way, it's good news.” She dipped her hand into her purse and took out an envelope. She shoved it toward me, making me hesitant.

I lifted my gaze to meet hers in total confusion. “What's this for?”

“Come on, Ocean… it's not a bomb. Open it. It's a surprise I've been waiting to tell you,” she urged.

I did as she had requested, and to my surprise, it was actually good news. “You are pregnant?” I gasped in both shock and a pinch of joy. Although I dreaded her every move, I still wanted to celebrate with her.

“Yes, Ocean. But that's not the fun part…” She chuckled softly, taking the paper back from me.

“Then what is it? Because I am shocked. Were you pregnant for Samuel, your husband, before his death?” I questioned, wanting to get the full details, but her next statement struck me.

“Samuel?” She scoffed, rolling her eyes. “I am not pregnant for Samuel, dummy! I'm carrying Sven's child!” she announced abruptly, her eyes trailing to her tummy as she rubbed it gently.

I cackled in disbelief, trying so hard not to believe what she was saying. “You are pregnant? For Sven? As in Sven Goodman?” My brows arched as I gazed at her.

“Yes, I am, Ocean. You should be happy for me, genuinely. Why are you laughing like a maniac?” She insulted me as she spoke.

I paused as I saw she wasn't kidding, Chloe wasn't saying things lightly. My brows furrowed in intense confusion.

“You do realize that Sven, whom you claim to be pregnant for, is my husband, right?”

“Well, yes, I know, but come on, Ocean, he was mine before you married him out of greed. It's obvious you needed the money the Goodman family offered you to marry their son,” Chloe said, her words annoying me so badly.

“What's that supposed to mean, Chloe? We both know how I ended up in his arms. You abandoned him for Samuel, and here you are telling me I married him for money? Are you being serious right now? Listen, Chloe, you'll terminate that pregnancy!”

I was too furious to think straight. I wasn't even sure about what to do or the right words to say.

“I'm sorry, Ocean, but I can't, not when Sven won't stop talking about marrying me. He said I should keep the baby. Trust me, I didn't want to do it, but he begged me to have sex with him. He missed how hard I fucked him when we were still together. I couldn't refuse him because I loved him too.” She narrated like a psycho, her every word grating on my nerves.

“So, like I said, I'm sorry, but this baby stays. After all, you never existed to Sven. I'm sure you know that.” Chloe stood up from her seat, and walking closer to where I sat, she smirked, revealing her evil side.

“Seems you are the one going to leave the Goodman family. See you soon, Ocean.” She turned on her heels and left.

A gasp left my lips as I blinked countless times, trying to hold in the tears in my eyes. What had I just heard? My foster sister was pregnant by my husband, whom she abandoned years back?

“Sven, why me? Why humiliate me this way?” My fists clenched as I said inwardly.
