Sudden Bride

Divya's POV

He filled the partition of my hair with vermilion and tied the magal sutra around my neck. And that's how everything changed in a few moments. I went from single to married. I became Mrs. Divya Khanna instead of Ms. Divya Agarwal.

Until a few hours ago, I was a simple 21-year-old college girl. But now I am someone's wife, and not of any ordinary person, but of India's biggest business tycoon Raunak Khanna, the owner of R.K. Enterprises.

FLASHBACK

Today I am very happy, because my elder sister and my only friend, Myra, is getting married.

She is 5 years older than me. Unlike me, she is very smart, beautiful, intelligent, and confident. That is the reason she is the CEO of our company.

I was heading towards her room, but I stopped on my way, listening to someone's voice, which was coming from my sister's room. I went near her room's door and peeked inside.

There stood my didi (elder sister) talking to a guy, looking very tense. But what was he doing in her room? And why didn't she get ready till now? The marriage rituals are going to start in less than an hour.

"Hurry up, we are going to be late!" said the guy.

"Where are you going, Di?" I asked her, going inside the room. They both turned towards me and both of them looked horrified. "Who is he?" I again asked, looking towards the guy.

"He is Vansh Mittal... My boyfriend," she replied hesitantly.

"Whaaaattt?" I was shocked. I don't know what to say next.

"Look, Divya..... I can explain. We have been dating each other for the last year..." I cut her off mid-sentence.

"So why did you agree to marry Raunak? And why didn't you say anything about this to papa?"

"Because both of our fathers are business rivals and when we first met during my trip to New York last year, we didn't know about it at the time. We met there and fell in love."

"But you could've at least told me," I told her feeling disappointed.

"I am sorry, Divya. But I need to go right now. I will talk to you when I come back, but right now, I need to go." She said going near the door with Vansh.

"No, Di, you can't go like this!" I said holding her hand, trying to stop her from going. I can't let her go like this.

"Let go of my hand, Divya," she said while removing her hand from my hold. She pushed me slightly, and I stumbled back. They took advantage of this opportunity and ran away. I ran after them, but they locked the door from the outside.

"OPEN THE DOOR, DI!" I shouted while banging the door.

FLASHBACK CONTINUES

I don't know what to do now. Because of the function, nobody could hear me and I don't have my phone with me. I was feeling very helpless.

I sat their leaning to the door. A lone tear roll down my cheek. 'How could she do this? ' I asked myself.

I was frustrated and very disappointed.

I raised my head and looked around in search of something that could help me in this situation.

Suddenly my eyes fell on the landline that was placed on the bedside table.

I got up from my place and went towards the phone and called my mother. Her phone kept ringing but nobody picked it up. So I called her again but this time after 3 rings " Hello.." It was not my mother, it was my elder brother Satyam, who received the phone but still I was relieved that now I can go out. " Hello?" His voice broke my chain of thought " Hello.... Bhai." I said.

"Divya... Why are you crying? " I didn't realize when I started to cry. "Bhai... Please help me. I am locked in Di's room here." I said.

"Stop crying and don't worry I am coming to help you. Okay." He said and disconnected the phone. I sat there on the bed thinking about the events that just happened. Suddenly the door opened and my brother came in " Divya..." I didn't let him finish and ran outside the room in search of my parents.

"Divya... Please stop. Where are you going?" Bhai was calling me but I ignored him and kept looking for my parents. Finally I spot my parents in some distance talking to Mr. Khanna.

I quickly went towards them followed by bhai. " Divya... What happened beta?... What happened to you?" My father asked worried. " Papa I need to talk to all of you." I said to them. " Tell me beta what happened?" He said. "Not here papa... let's go to Somewhere private... It's important papa... It's about Di." I told them.

We went to the nearest room. When we all were inside I explained them everything and they were shocked to hear that. Maa (mother) was crying and papa wasn't able to speak anything. He was angry, hurt, and disappointed. I looked at bhai he was also angry.

"What do we do now?" My mother said in between her sobs. "We don't have any other ways instead of cancel this wedding." My father said sadly.

"I am sorry Mr. Khanna. Please forgive me because of my daughter you and your family also have to bear this humiliation." He said joining his hands in front of Mr. Khanna, his head was bowed with shame. I was angry at Di. Because of her we all had to be so humiliated. "You don't have to be sorry Mr. Agarwal. It's not your fault." Said Mr. Khanna holding papa's hands in his and confronted him. I looked at him his eyes were sad but he had a calm expression on his face.

"Still we have to cancel this wedding, all everybody is outside, journalists are also here it will be so humiliating to announce this." Said Bhai agitated.

"This wedding won't be cancelled." Said Mr. Khanna with an unreadable expression on his face.
