The Alpha's Salvation

LEILANI.

Today, all the she-wolves of the Black Ridge pack were gathered at the pack house as instructed by our Alpha.

I knew I was risking a lot being here today and what awaited me at home wouldn't be pleasant.

Judging by the curious looks on everyone's faces, I wasn't the only one surprised by this meeting since the Alpha had gone quiet ever since the death of his mate, Luna Diana, who had been killed by a rogue.

It was a sad period for the pack back then.

Alpha Alexei had become withdrawn since then, never partaking in any of the pack functions.

Nevertheless, the excitement in the air right now was euphoric, the Alpha after all was a man loved by all.

Alpha Alexei hadn't arrived yet and I was so excited at finally getting a glimpse of his face even though that won't be possible.

I had come to the pack house a little bit late and due to my short stature, I couldn't see the front of the crowd.

But I didn’t let that break my spirit because after so long I got to hear his voice and that was enough for me I also didn't mind the hatred-filled glares I was getting from the other she-wolves, I was used to it by now.

“Isn't that Leilani, Martha's daughter, the pack whore, what on earth is she doing here?”

“Probably to seek out men to warm her bed tonight.”

I looked sideways and noticed two girls my age were gossiping about me.

They didn't even have the courtesy of speaking in low tones because they knew there was nothing I could do to defend myself.

I was an Omega, a weak one at that coupled with the fact that my mother was known around the pack for not keeping her legs closed.

It made me a target for the pack's constant bullying tactics.

Immediately the other pack members who were unaware of my presence earlier, heard the girls and looked at me with disgust.

I became afraid of their attention because I didn't know what evil deed they were going to do to me right there, maybe I should have listened to Mother's instructions and stayed home.

Not that staying home would have been any better.

Something told me I needed to be here today.

One of the girls started walking towards me, she stood in front of me with an evil smirk on her face.

“I don't know what you think you are doing here, you slut. Look around you, do you see anyone here that is in the same position as you?” She said sarcastically while the others snickered at her words.

But it seemed she wasn't through with me, she was about to say something else which I am sure would be more hurtful words when suddenly a husky voice spoke with power and authority.

“You are all welcome to this meeting, beautiful and brave she-wolves of the Black Ridge pack. I want to thank you all for respecting my wishes and being here even if I have been absent from the pack affairs for some time now. But I assure you I am back now.”

Alpha Alexei was here, he was addressing us and all I could think about was how that voice was doing something to me.

My whole body was on edge but in a good way, I swallowed a huge gulp of saliva when a sudden smell of chocolate and earth musk wafted through my nose.

My senses were suddenly alert and a tingly sensation traveled through my spine to my nether regions, my body felt hot and I was so confused about what was happening to me.

I was so focused on my body's reaction that I didn't even notice the Alpha had stopped talking.

The entire crowd which was earlier buzzing with murmurs and whispers was suddenly silent.

Immediately the crowd in front of me was creating a pathway, I thought it was for someone else but then I looked up and locked eyes with our Alpha, and then jolts of electricity zapped my heart.

This couldn't be what I thought it was, I had no wolf but why did I hear a quiet purr in my head saying, “Mate.”

I was startled by the unexpected intrusion wondering where that came from.

My heartbeat slowed down and it felt like I couldn't breathe, I was stuck.

Alpha Alexei commanded me to come to him and I couldn't resist. He was huge up close, six feet tall, purely muscled male, I felt like an imp being this close to him.

He asked me to introduce myself and I could have sworn that I heard a lot of affection in his affection.

I said, "My name is Leilani Rose, Alpha.”

A different set of emotions passed through his eyes the moment he heard my name.

It went from confusion to recognition and then disgust.

“You are Martha's daughter? That vile woman's child," He spat at me. “The Moon Goodess must be punishing me but what I want to know is why?”

I stood there in stunned silence at his words with tears flowing in my eyes.

It seemed he wasn't through yet because he continued.

“Out of all the she-wolves in my pack, it had to be you that was chosen by the moon goddess to be my second chance, what a cruel joke.”

I tried to say something to defend myself but I was tongue-tied.

Without saying anything more to me he shifted into his wolf and ran into the woods.

“Follow Mate, he needs us, he will make you stronger, you need to be with him.” The strange voice kept chanting in my head.

But I paid it no mind, what was the point? It wouldn't change anything, It seems my mother's shadow will forever haunt me.

Her immoral ways had finally given me the final blow.

My mate left me there without claiming me as his to the entire pack yet.

He didn't outright reject me but I saw the hatred and disgust in his eyes; he looked at me the same way the other pack members did.

I could hear the laughter from the other she-wolves, they were happy at my humiliation.

Ashamed and unable to take their reproach anymore I left there with tears in my eyes and their continuous laughter echoing behind me.

It was extremely dark by the time I got home.

My head pounded with tension, as sweat made dark circles under my arms.

I imagined all the possible scenarios that would take place with Mother now that I was home and I was sure that it would end with me being her punching bag once again.

My mother and I had a complex relationship or not that complex since no matter what I did I always ended up with bruises or cuts from her.

Father abandoned her when she was pregnant with me, and she never fails to remind me each day that I was the cause of it and other misfortunes that had befallen her.

As I got to the door, standing on the horns of my dilemma, gently, I turned the knob and let myself into the house I called home even though it had been a home to me.

“You wretched good for nothing, you dared to sneak out and leave this house even after I gave you instructions not to.” my mother said scornfully “Mother, please I can explain, I– ahh!”

I yelled in pain when she dragged me by my hair forcefully.

“I feed you, I clothe you, and put a roof over your cursed head and you disobey me you bitch!” she spat, her tone laced with fury.

“I heard what happened at the pack house, how the Alpha humiliated you, what did you think was going to happen when you found out he was your mate, were you thinking that he would accept you with open arms and the both of you would go riding in the sunset.” She mockingly said to me.

“Well since you think you are now a grown woman capable of making her own decisions, you won't do it here in my house, I want you out.” She continued.

I got down on my knees with tears in my eyes pleading with her not to throw me out but it seemed I was talking to a cold wall and not my mother.

She grabbed my arms roughly and started pulling me out.

She opened the door but we were surprised by what we saw, or rather who was standing outside about to knock on our door.

It was one of the pack warriors.

And I wasn't prepared for what I heard him say.

“The Alpha wants to see you and your daughter immediately.” He said looking at Mother.

“Just because the Alpha wants to see us doesn't mean he has accepted you, I am sure he wants to reject you officially.” said my mother on our way to Alpha Alexei.

I wouldn't lie, the thought had crossed my mind when the pack warrior came to call us, that maybe the Alpha had decided that I wasn't worth being his Luna and wanted to break our bond.

The thought saddened me immensely but I swore not to break down anymore no matter the outcome.

On getting there, we were ushered into the Alpha's office and were met with him and Beta Logan speaking in hushed tones but immediately stopped talking when they noticed our presence.

It seemed my body was no longer mine whenever he was around because his beautiful green eyes were glaring at me so intensely that it felt as if my skin was burning up.

“Leilani and Martha please have a seat.’ Beta Logan said breaking up the starring contest Alpha Alexei and I was having.

“I know you are wondering why the both of you are here.” The Beta went on “Not really, we all know the Alpha here wants to officially break the bond between him and my daughter so please save our time and get down to it.” My mother of course had to say my worst fear right now.

Alpha Alexei and Logan exchanged confused looks and then he spoke for the first time since our arrival.

“Oh trust me the thought had crossed my mind but after some deliberation with my Beta I have decided that I won't be rejecting her yet.”

My shoulders sagged in relief when I heard he wasn't rejecting me and I almost let out the breath I was holding until I heard him utter the last sentence.

“What do you mean by you are not rejecting her yet?”

My mother took the question right out of my mouth.

“I have a proposition for you, I need a Luna yes but only for a year, the reason I called for all the females of my pack was that I needed a breeder, I needed one of them to birth me an heir and after a year she is free to go but my child stays with me.

I don't need a partner nor a mate, my one true love which was my first mate is dead and I can't love another.”

From the corner of my eye, I could see that Beta Logan let out a scoff in irritation from what Alpha Alexei just said.

I couldn't believe my ears, this was way worse than a rejection, birthing a child and not being able to watch him or her grow is not something I wanted to partake in.

Something broke inside of me when he said he was incapable of loving another because I had always had a massive crush on him and was sad when he found his mate back then.

I knew I was his second chance mate and I wasn't saying he should forget his previous Luna but couldn't he find a place in his heart for me at all?

My mother flared up. “What nonsense is this, that my daughter will give you an heir for what? What do we stand to gain in all of these?”

“Silence woman! Mind the way you speak to your Alpha, know your place or I won't hesitate to let my wolf out and allow him to deal with you accordingly.” Alpha Alexei started; it seemed my mother's outburst had almost pushed him a little over the edge because his eyes were almost turning pitch black.

My mother knowing fully well this was a battle she couldn't win, apologized and bowed her head in submission.

I was almost happy thinking my mother was finally standing up for me after all these years of her neglecting me but once I heard her question the alpha on what she stands to gain, my joy died instantly.

“I will pay your daughter 1 million dollars, half now and the remaining half after a year is gone.

Mother immediately was all smiles when the money was mentioned and replied happily while chuckling.

“You should have started the conversation with that in the first place my Alpha, she is all yours to do as you wish,”

I couldn't believe that this was all that my life was about, being a slave all through.

I was a slave in my mother's house and now that I have finally found my mate, I still had to be used like a slave, fulfilling his wishes and then to be discarded like trash when he got what he wanted.

And he intends to pay as if I was a common whore and not his better half.

He didn't for once look my way when proposing his ridiculous offer, I dared him in my mind to see what he was doing to me.

The pain he was inflicting on me with his words but it seemed looking at me was a burden to him because all of his attention was on my mother.

“Starting tomorrow she stays here with me until a year is up, let me get this straight, I don't care about the mate bond, all I need is an heir and she should not expect any form of love or companionship from me, is that clear?”

Why was he talking as if I wasn't here, why won't he look at me?

And why couldn't I say something, my mind was screaming at me to speak up, to voice my displeasure in all of these but like a fool I kept silent.

“Yes my Alpha, it is crystal clear.” Mother replied.

“Now you may go,” Alexei said I stood up in a daze, not believing all that had happened right here in front of me, it felt like a terrible dream.

And he still wouldn't look at me, my mother grabbed me by my elbow, painfully tugging me away so we could go home.

I so badly wanted to speak up but I was tongue-tied, fear of what mother would do to me had me scared to say a word.

Look at me, I pleaded in my mind, just please look into my eyes and see the turmoil I am going through, see all of the hurt and disappointment I am going through by hearing you say all that you have said.

That strange voice in my head kept wailing, I could feel its sadness and it was suffocating.

But of course, he never looked, he just kept on sorting through papers that were littered all over his desk.

I gave up and followed my mother home, a place that had never felt like home to me…..
