In the northern suburbs, at the Lewis' Mansion, on the observation terrace.
A woman dressed in a pale purple, bejeweled gown, revealed delicate and slender bare feet, adorned with a black rose that accentuated her fair complexion, exuding an enchanting allure.
At this moment, she glanced sideways into the distance, her slightly raised chin glistening with a refined radiance. Between her slender and translucent fingers, she held a slim cigarette, from which wisps of white smoke gracefully ascended.
The warm afternoon sun bathed her in a golden hue, enhancing the resplendent beauty of her face with an inexplicable charm.
Maurice Lewis, with a detached expression, glanced at her for a moment, his voice cool yet mellifluous. "Is this your condition?"
The woman turned her gaze, and a hint of a faint smile curled upon her lips.
"Mr. Lewis, this is not a condition, but rather a consultation fee."
In Jersey, everybody knows that the oldest son of the Lewis family, Ryan Lewis had saved Maurice and remained unconscious in bed to this day.
It was only the enigmatic Dr. Ward who possessed the power to reverse such a fate, but for some unknown reason, the man had vanished since that fateful accident.
And now, she managed to bypass the Lewis family's numerous bodyguards and leave a letter, containing only a few simple words that addressed Maurice's lingering ailment.
The Signature belongs to the most prominent woman in recent times in Jersey City: Jocelyn Quill.
Jocelyn, the eldest daughter of John Quill, lost her mother at the age of three. Due to problems in her father's business group, she was sent to the countryside to be raised. It wasn't until her senior year of high school that John brought her back. By then, the Quill family had gained some influence in Jersey.
It was expected that growing up in the countryside would make her timid and weak, but instead, she turned out to be arrogant, assertive, and domineering.
After transferring to Jersey High School, her indulgent nature made her famous within half a month, skipping classes and getting into fights.
She bullied her own younger sister, mocked her stepmother, and defied her father.
In college, she became even more unrestrained. Not only did she move out of the residence, but she also spent her days hanging out in Jersey's famous bars and underground fighting arenas. Although she was ignorant, at least the Quill family had some peace.
However, recently her limelight has been overshadowed by an anonymous report accusing her stepmother's company of tax evasion and providing over 80 pages of evidence.
As a result, the Quill family got swept up in a major public backlash, and John's intense anger landed him in the hospital.
And now, this woman, with a long list of misdeeds, capable of publicly shaming even her own family members, has proposed to marry Maurice and become the First Lady of Jersey.
It's simply a delusional idea!
Neil couldn't bear it any longer and spoke to Maurice.
"Mr. Lewis, this woman is wicked. Let me kick her out!"
However, Maurice gestured for him to go, then hesitated, assessing Jocelyn in front of him. If the rumors were accurate, she wouldn't have been able to deliver that letter to his office.
The man's cold gaze seemed to penetrate her as if he could see through everything.
Jocelyn remained indifferent, getting up to extinguish her cigarette in the ashtray in front of him. As the smoke dissipated, she smiled lightly.
"Marry me for a year, and I'll arrange for Dr. Ward to treat Ryan's illness. The Quill family will host a banquet the day after tomorrow, giving Mr. Lewis one more day to consider."
With a flick of her slender fingers on the table, it felt like knocking his heart.
The man had rugged, smooth-lined features, and his deep eyes resembled obsidian.
In a meticulously tailored suit, every detail was flawlessly extravagant.
Just sitting there, his aloof temperament made people hesitant to approach him.
Looking at this man, who was perfect like a deity, Jocelyn curved her red lips, carrying a limited-edition bag, and casually spoke.
"Ryan still has two years, but I can only give you one day."
After she finished speaking, the sound of her high heels fading away echoed in his ears.
Maurice's gaze darkened, his lips pressed into a thin line, his face growing colder.
In the entire Jersey, no one had dared to threaten him with such an attitude, not even the members of the Lewis family.
But in this matter, Jocelyn had firmly grasped him, leaving no room for refusal.
Hmph, who said this woman was foolish? He thought she was quite clever.
"Wait."
The man's cold but resolute voice rang out.
Jocelyn knew she had won.
Turning around with a lazy expression, she revealed a hint of a smile.
Even Maurice had to admit that this woman was well aware of her beauty.
Their eyes met, and despite the impatience and indifference in Maurice's gaze, Jocelyn didn't mind as she sat back down.
"Mr. Lewis, no need to worry about it. I promise that Dr. Ward will appear in a month."
After a long silence, until felt that she had no reason to deceive him, the coldness in Maurice's eyes finally subsided, and he asked.
"Why me?"
Jocelyn looked up at him, her eyebrows raised slightly, a mocking smile playing on her lips.
"Mr. Lewis, you're such a great man. I can't bear to let you be taken by someone else."
As she watched the cunning flicker in her eyes, Maurice couldn't possibly remain oblivious.
Using the excuse of taking care of Ryan, he had postponed his marriage. Now, when he finally acquiesced, Madam Quill arranged for him to meet Jessica Quill, the second daughter of the Quill family, known for her exceptional background, intellect, and beauty.
Considering she could sacrifice her own family for the greater good, Maurice could definitely guess her intentions.
With this in mind, her gaze flickered.
"I believe, Mr. Lewis, you're not marrying out of love, but rather because you need someone to marry. Instead of marrying someone who brings you no benefit, why not engage in a mutually beneficial transaction?"
Her initial intention to marry Maurice was to disgust Jessica and her mother, as well as John. However, she later realized that she could take care of many things by assuming this role.
Double whammy!
Maurice's gaze sharpened as he observed her face.
Jocelyn was right. To him, it mattered not whether it was Jessica or Jocelyn; he just needed someone to silence the Lewis family members.
But the additional condition of bringing Dr. Ward...
Maurice's eyes darkened slightly. He was a shrewd businessman, and the disparity between the two options was clear to him.
Checking his wristwatch, he stated, "County Clerk's Office is still open. Let's go." His intention was clear.
Jocelyn watched his expression change and a hint of rebellion flashed in her eyes.
Outside on the observation deck, Neil stood there in shock, watching the woman walk out with Maurice, her head held high.
In one moment, he was ready to be called upon by Maurice to drive her away, but in the next moment, she walked out with Maurice, exuding an arrogant demeanor.
He couldn't fathom what method Jocelyn had used to make Maurice marry her.

At the entrance of the County Clerk's Office.
A Maybach looked steady and luxurious, and Neil, who was also well-dressed, was standing next to it.
Jocelyn shook the paper in her hand slightly. Her charming and beautiful eyes were shining with a breathtaking luster, just like a red rose, making people's hearts sway.
She was not an ordinary woman, but an enchanting seductress who devoured men whole.
Neil averted his gaze and muttered to himself.
"Congratulations, Mr. Lewis, on gaining a beautiful wife." Jocelyn smiled and naturally went forward to hold the arm of Maurice.
The man took a step, calmly retracting his arm, his eyes cold.
"Just cooperation. I hope you understand," Maurice reminded her not to cross the line.
Jocelyn didn't seem to hear. The afterglow on her face made her red lips even more charming and drew a long shadow behind her, just like her body.
"I understand, of course. Mr. Lewis, take it easy. Dr. Ward will appear to treat Ryan in a month." Her tone was casual as she walked alongside Maurice.
She didn't answer the question, but when it came to the topic of Dr. Ward, Maurice pursed his lips and allowed her to hold his arm again.
The more rebellious he was, the stronger her desire to conquer him was. Such a noble, cold, and arrogant man made her more and more interested in him.
The black car drove steadily back. Jocelyn had some mood to rest her chin on his shoulder.
He had deep eyebrows, a straight nose, and just the right amount of thin lips.
The man was perfect indeed. She can't help but blow at his neck.
Maurice stiffened, closed the computer, and pushed her away. He glanced at her coldly.
He thought that the rumors were not credible, but now it seems that it’s not all fake.
"It's true that she's a loose woman." He thought.
Observing the scrutiny in his eyes, Jocelyn didn't care at all and smiled.
Looking at the neon lights outside the window, she raised eyebrows and said frivolously, "Mr. Lewis drove away without asking me where I live. You must want to do something with me. Well, I won't refuse anyway."
After that, she leaned over and put one hand on the thigh of Maurice, eyes narrowed.
From the perspective of Maurice, the woman's collarbones were exquisite, and her slender neck could be said to be a perfect work of art. Her curves were enchanting. Such a charming elf.
He looked away. He had forgotten that Jocelyn had moved out of the Quill's Vila.
The man's eyes darkened as he spoke in a low voice.
"Where do you live? Let Neil send you back."
Jocelyn rubbed his thigh restlessly with her hand and then said lightly.
"Honey, how about going to your place?"
Neil's feet trembled in shock, and the car shook. He quickly calmed down, but he didn't dare to look back. He could only concentrate on driving.
Maurice glanced at Neil and then the woman next to him.
Seeing her leaning lazily on him, he suddenly frowned and said in a slow tone.
"Jocelyn Quill, you... "
Before the man finished speaking, he saw her suddenly sitting upright and said.
"I almost forgot."
As she spoke, she took out a small box from her bag. The box was unadorned, but the carvings on it made Maurice a little moved.
Those were the inscriptions used by Dr. Ward.
He believed that the box in Jocelyn's hand was genuine because no one had ever dared to use Dr. Ward's engraving to deceive.
This undoubtedly confirmed what Jocelyn had said, but...
Maurice peeked at her secretly. She had been raised in the countryside since she was a child. Even in Jersey City, she was not favored by her family. How could she invite Dr. Ward who had been away for a few years?
"I almost forgot about this box. It was my master who told me to take this medicine first so that he could treat Ryan better."
She held the wooden box in her fair hand and then looked at Maurice. Under his bloodthirsty gaze, she put the box back into her bag and patted it gently.
He couldn't figure out what she meant. Since it was for Ryan, she put the medicine back. For a moment, Maurice's expression changed rapidly, but he still didn't ask her for the box. Instead, he was interested in what she had just said.
"Dr. Ward is your master?"
Jocelyn pursed her lips and smiled. She took out a slim cigarette and clipped it between her knuckles. She took a light drag on it and walked toward Maurice with an ambiguous expression.
"Mr. Lewis is interested in my affairs?" After that, she slowly blew a smoke ring at him.
Maurice rolled down the window and let a cool breeze in. Both of them felt refreshed.
The man quickly pulled out the cigarette in her hand and threw it out of the window.
"Smoking is bad for your health."
The man's face was expressionless, but she could still catch the man's uneasiness.
A coquettish voice came from the tip of her nose. Jocelyn looked at him thoughtfully and asked.
"Honey, are you worried about me?"
Maurice was silent, but the tips of his red ears exposed his state of mind.
Neil was already frightened. What did he hear? Jocelyn was the disciple of Dr. Ward! The most mysterious doctor was Jocelyn's master...
He felt as if he had been struck by lightning, and his mind was buzzing.
In that case, if Mr. Lewis married her...
Suppressing the emotions in his heart, Neil understood that Ryan was a thorn in the flesh of Maurice. If he couldn't find Dr. Ward, he wouldn't be able to let go for the rest of his life.
In the Serenity Estates.
The car stopped steadily in the middle of the villa.
"Mr. Lewis, Mrs. ... Lewis, arrived."
Neil did not dare to offend either of them as he knew she was Dr. Ward's student. He could only look at the rearview mirror. Maurice did not move, and his hanging heart was relieved.
Jocelyn glanced at Maurice and blinked charmingly at him. Then, she picked up her bag and got out of the car.
Just as the car door was about to close, Maurice spoke.
"Wait."
Jocelyn understood, but she did not show it. She was still arrogant.
The white purse kept swaying as she turned around, attracting the attention of Maurice.
"What's wrong? Mr. Lewis, you've changed your mind?" The woman said slowly with blinking eyes.
Looking at her expression, Maurice remained cold, but he relented.
"The box." It was concise, but Jocelyn still achieved her goal.
The woman leaned over and said, "Give me a kiss."
He looked at her flawless face. Her delicate earrings slipped down to her shoulders and neck.
Maurice couldn't help but feel a burning sensation.
Neil was so scared that he didn't even dare to breathe. He had followed Maurice for four years, but he had never seen anyone dare to tease him like this.
But now, this woman had provoked Maurice several times in one day. Even Neil was afraid of being affected by the war and could only stiffen his body to maintain a weak sense of existence.
They were in a stalemate for a long time. Just as Jocelyn shrugged and was about to leave, Maurice raised his hand and pinched her delicate chin. He kissed her face and then quickly let go of her.
