The Runaway Wife and her Secret Baby
Synopsis
I thought we had it all, a love that was meant to last. But on our second wedding anniversary, everything shattered with just a few words. “Sabina is back. Let's get a divorce,” Isaac coldly proclaimed. The weight of those words crushed my heart as I clutched the pregnancy report, knowing that it held a secret he would never suspect. In that moment, I made a choice: to disappear from his life and protect the unborn child. As I vanished into thin air, leaving behind a bewildered Isaac, little did I know the storm that would follow. Isaac's desperation consumed him, driving him to search for me relentlessly. And then, one fateful day, our paths crossed again, and he saw what he had been longing for -- a woman, once lost, together with an adorable little child. His eyes burned with jealousy as he brought up the inevitable question, “Who is the father?”

New York
Hospital
"Congratulations, you're pregnant, and the baby is healthy," said the doctor.
Rose clenched the report tightly in her hand, her expression somewhat stunned.
Pregnant? Rose was both shocked and happy.
"Make sure to come for regular check-ups. Where is the baby's father? He also got things to pay attention to."
The doctor's words brought Rose back to reality, "My husband didn't come today."
"He should be here." The doctor frowned.
As Rose left the hospital, a gentle drizzle began to fall outside. She caressed her belly.
A little life was already growing inside her.
It was her and Isaac's baby…
Her phone vibrated, it was Isaac.
[It's raining. Bring an umbrella to this address.]
Rose glanced at the address. A club.
Why? Didn't he say he had a meeting today?
But Rose didn't think too much. She asked Bruce to drive her to the club.
"You can drive back now, Bruce."
"But Madam.."
"I'll go home with Isaac later."
She can wait for him.
After receiving her instructions, Bruce drove away.
The light rain turned into pouring rain.
It was a billiard club.
Rose was stopped at the entrance.
"Apologies, miss, please show your membership card."
Rose sent a message to Isaac.
"I'm here."
After sending the message, she stood there and lost in thoughts about the pregnancy report.
Perhaps she should just tell him when he comes out? Or should she surprise him on his birthday?
Rose was unaware that she had become the subject of mockery by the people upstairs.
A group of them leaned against the window, watching her.
"Isaac's wife is such a little slave."
"She must be out of her mind."
"Stop."
A voice came from the corner of the private room.
Isaac's legs were crossing.
He raised his hand, "Give it back to me."
His friend returned his phone to him.
"I haven't had enough fun yet."
"If it weren't for Sabina being here, you wouldn't even have the chance to touch Isaac's phone."
They looked towards the girl sitting next to Isaac.
Sabina pursed her lips, "Stop making fun of me."
Someone teased, "Everyone knows how engrossed he is in you."
"What do you say, Isaac?" One of their friends asked.
Sabina looked at Isaac.
Isaac didn't deny it.
Seeing that, the teasing became unstoppable.
"We've said it a century!"
Isaac sent a message to Rose.
"Just go."
When Rose received this message, she felt a bit puzzled, "Is there anything wrong?"
Isaac did not reply.
Perhaps he had something important to attend to.
Rose decided to go back home first.
"Wait."
Someone called out to her from behind. When Rose turned around, she saw two stylishly dressed girls walking towards her.
The taller one glanced at her disdainfully, "Are you Rose?"
The hostility on her face was evident. Rose didn't show any signs of weakness, "Who are you?"
"Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is that Sabina is back, so do yourself a favor and stay away from Isaac," the girl said.
Rose's pupils shrank.
How long had it been since she had heard that name? So long… she had almost forgotten about the existence of such a person.
Her emotions were clearly sensed by the girls, who looked at her disdainfully.
"Why are you so surprised? Have you been playing the role of Mrs. Crichton for two years and forget who you are?"
Rose bit her lower lip, her fingers gripping the umbrella.
"You wanna compete with Sabina?"
"Forget it."
Rose walked away, not bothering to listen to their words any longer.
Their cursing were drowned out by the rain.
When she returned home, the butler was startled to see a drenched figure standing at the entrance. After recognizing her face, he exclaimed, "Madam!"
"Why are you so wet? Come inside."
Rose's limbs were numb from the cold. The maids immediately brought a large towel to cover her body and help dry her hair.
"Prepare the bath water for madam!"
"I'll make some soup!"
No one noticed Isaac had returned.
A cold voice was sounded,
"What's going on?"
Rose's eyelashes trembled.
Shouldn't he be with Sabina?
"Sir, Madam got caught in the rain."
Caught in the rain?
Isaac's eyes fell upon the petite figure sitting on the sofa.
After getting a closer look, Isaac furrowed his brows.
Rose's hair was sticking to her pale skin, and her lips devoid of any color.
"What's wrong with you?"
Rose forced herself to control her emotions before giving Isaac a pale smile, "My phone ran out of battery. On my way back, I encountered a child who didn't have an umbrella."
Isaac's gaze suddenly turned cold.
"You're brainless, aren't you?"
The smile on Rose's lips froze.
"He didn't have an umbrella, so you gave yours to him and then got drenched yourself?"
"Do you think I would praise you for this?"
None of the maids dared to speak.
Rose lowered her eyelids, tears welling up in her eyes.
She remained silent, trying her best to endure.
It wasn't until Isaac walked over and carried her horizontally that the hot tears fell onto her hand.

Isaac threw her into the bathroom and then left.
Rose kept her head down the whole time. Once Isaac had left, she slowly lifted her head and wiped away the tears from her face with her hand.
After a moment,
she locked the bathroom door and took out the pregnancy report given by the hospital from her pocket.
The report had been washed away by the rain, and the words on it were blurry and indistinct.
She had wanted to surprise him with the news, but now it seemed completely unnecessary.
Isaac usually would not allow anyone else to touch his phone.
Today's message clearly wasn't sent by him.
It could only be someone else who took his phone and made a joke out of her.
There might have been a group of people laughing at her.
Rose looked at it for a long time, the slowly tore up the report.
Half an hour later,
Rose calmly walked out of the bathroom.
Isaac sat on the sofa, with a laptop in front of him as if he was still working.
When she came out, he pointed to the soup.
"Drink."
"Okay."
Rose walked over. But instead of drinking it, she called out his name.
"Isaac."
"What's the matter?" His tone was indifferent, his gaze not even moving away from the screen.
Rose looked at his exquisite profile, her lips trembled.
Isaac, as if growing impatient, lifted his head and their eyes met.
After taking a bath, Rose's complexion was rosy and her lips were no longer pale. However, perhaps due to the rain, she appeared sickly today, exuding a sense of fragility.
With just a glance, a certain desire in Isaac was ignited.
Rose was preparing the words and had not noticed that.
"You…um!"
Isaac leaned over and kissed her deeply.
His rough fingers instantly reddened her fair skin.
Isaac's breath was hot like a burning fire, and Rose was almost suffocated by his kiss. When she tried to push him away, his phone suddenly rang.
His passion instantly faded. After a moment, he withdrew and pecked at her lips,
"Drink the soup and sleep."
Isaac got up and went to the balcony.
-
When the balcony door was shut, Rose felt a bit dizzy.
She sat for a while before finally standing up.
Instead of going into the bedroom, she walked towards the balcony.
The door was only half closed, allowing the night breeze to bring in Isaac's voice.
"I won't leave you."
"Nighty."
Isaac's voice was as gentle as the wind.
Rose stood and listened for a while.
So, he had such a tender side. It's a pity that she never knew.
She entered the bedroom, sitting expressionlessly on the edge of the bed.
Their marriage was just a business transaction.
Two years ago, when Rose's family went bankrupt, she was laughed at by the entire city.
Some even boasted that they could repay the debts for her as long as she prostituted herself.
Before the decline of the Moore, Rose had countless suitors, but none of them caught her eye. As time went on, everyone said that she was overweening.
Now that her family had fallen, people harbored the intent to tease her and even simulated an auction of her.
In her most desperate and humiliating moment,
Isaac made those who were derogatory toward her suffer greatly. He cleared the Moore's debts and said to her, "Marry me."
Rose looked at him in shock.
He reached out and touched her face.
"I will not take advantage of you. Don't worry, it's just a fake engagement. Grandma is sick. I need to marry you to make her happy. She likes you a lot. And I will help you restore the Moore."
Oh, so it was a fake engagement.
It was just to please Isabel.
He didn't really like her.
But even so, she agreed.
Although she knew he had no feelings for her, she agreed.
After the engagement, Rose felt weird.
They had been childhood friends, but now they were suddenly engaged.
A year later, when Isabel's condition worsened, they got married. Rose became the envy of everyone as Mrs. Crichton.
They were remarked as a happy ending of childhood sweethearts.
Rose smiled bitterly.
Unfortunately, it was just a business transaction.
"Awake?" Isaac's voice suddenly came.
Immediately after, the space next to Rose sank, and Isaac's cool breath surrounded her.
"I got something to tell you."
Rose already knew what he wanted to say.
"Let's get a divorce." Isaac said.
Rose suppressed the rising emotions, making an effort to remain calm. "When?"
She was acting calmly as if she were talking about weather.
Her demeanor made Isaac furrow, "Soon, after Grandma's surgery."
Rose nodded.
"Okay."
Isaac asked, "…That's it?"
Rose glanced at him sideways. "What?"
Isaac choked for a moment,
"Never mind, you heartless woman."
How could she remain so calm after two years of marriage?
He knew that their marriage was a transaction from the start.
The meaning of his existence was only to deter her pursuers.
If it weren't for his grandma's illness during these two years, she probably would have severed ties with him long ago.
Isaac lied down beside her and closed his eyes.
"Isaac."
Rose suddenly called out to him.
Isaac's eyes snapped open.
"What?"
Rose looked at his handsome face, her pink lips moved,"Thank you."
Upon hearing this, the brightness in Isaac's eyes dimmed. After a moment, he curled his lips. "You talk too much."
Talk too much?
Rose turned her head away. After the divorce, she wouldn't have chance to talk this much.
