Prince Mathew.
As I finally decided to take a much-needed couple of days off in England, I received an unexpected phone call from my partner, Alex. My private jet had just landed, and I didn’t even get the chance to step into my waiting limo. It was beyond frustrating.
What was going on? He couldn’t manage anything in the company without me? For God’s sake, I hadn’t taken a day off in more than three months! I was mentally and physically exhausted, feeling like I was running on empty. I was in desperate need of just a couple of days to shut my mind off and relax.
I grabbed my cell phone and answered in an annoyed tone, “Hey! Did you miss me or what?” I mocked, trying to lighten the mood despite my irritation.
“Hey, Mathew. Sorry for interrupting your weekend. But it’s urgent,” he said, sounding equally annoyed.
“What happened? Did something go wrong with our last deal?” I asked him, genuinely worried.
He replied in defeat, “No, please, it’s not about the business. Just listen and don’t cut me off. Since you are already in England, I need a favor from you.”
“Okay, I’m listening,” I said, trying to stay calm.
“My daughter is currently studying at a private school over there. I need you to meet the principal instead of me. He called me and said that she smashed some guy’s bones or something like that. And you know if I took a flight now, it would take more than ten hours in the air. Besides, I can’t leave the company because you are not there. So…” he explained, and I didn’t think twice. He was my partner, after all.
It was just that I hated kids! That’s all there was to it.
“Um... Okay, I can do it. Don’t worry. Just send me the name of the school, and I will take care of everything and call you back later,” I informed him, trying to sound more enthusiastic than I felt.
He said sincerely, “Thank you so much, Mathew. You are the best brother and partner ever.”
“It’s okay, Alex… Anytime. I’ll call you later.” With that, I hung up the call with Alex and frowned, feeling a mix of irritation and disbelief.
“What! I can’t take a fucking weekend alone without interruptions?!” I mumbled to myself, gesturing for my guard to open the limo door for me.
I’m an Alpha, for fuck’s sake! I wished I could scream and tell Alex about my little secret. But what should I say to him? “Hello Alex, I just want to tell you… I’m a werewolf. Oh, and by the way, I’m actually an Alpha. And even more, I’m fucking going to take the throne on my twenty-fifth birthday! In just ten days, I will be a king and rule the werewolves’ kingdom!”
Yes, Alex would think that I had lost my mind or gone crazy, or he might get so scared that he would have a heart attack!
Stepping inside the limo, I checked my text messages. Yes, I had received the name of the private school. But what didn’t come to my mind was what he had said earlier. The girl smashed some guy’s bones?! How could she do that?!
I laughed at the thought and commanded the driver to take me there first so I could deal with that situation quickly. After that, I planned to return to my hotel and enjoy my next two days of peace and relaxation.
After half an hour, we reached the school, which was located in the middle of nowhere. It looked more like a prison to me, albeit one designed in the shape of a castle!
I wondered why Alex would send his daughter so far away to a place like this. Maybe she needed to be tamed or something. But she was such a young girl, after all! Alex was only a few years older than me. Yes, I was twenty-four years old, and he was just thirty-two.
I suspected that Viola was some kind of genius, especially for being a young girl in high school. She must be around twelve or something! She couldn’t be older, right?! I thought as I passed through the huge iron gates of the school.
I drifted directly into the principal’s office, my guards and assistant following closely behind me. I didn’t see even a ghost around the bars of that iron gate. It all felt kind of eerie.
Until I spotted a young, feisty girl yelling at a few boys. I stood in my place, watching her. She raised an eyebrow and said rudely to me, “What the fuck are you looking at? Do I look like a monkey to you?!”
Why were my heartbeats getting higher? Why did the scent of her body stick to my nose as if she were my…!
“Yes, she is your mate, idiot!” my wolf growled, interrupting my thoughts.
“NO fucking way! She is human!” I snapped back at my wolf, trying to silence it.
Before I could respond to her outrageous attitude, the principal opened his door and yelled at that girl, “Viola Alex! Come over here now.”
“What the fuck! Is that Viola?! My partner's daughter?! She looks like a lady to me!”
I rolled my eyes and asked awkwardly, “Is that Viola Alex?!” in a tone of shock.
The principal nodded, saying, “Yes, sir. And I guess you are Mr. Mathew York… Mr. Alex called me earlier and informed me that you would take care of her this weekend.”
“What? Take care of that girl for the weekend? No, no… I think you misunderstood the situation. I’m just here to see what has happened and to solve the problem, that’s all,” I said, my tone clearly disagreeing with the idea.
Viola had already disappeared, and the principal ushered me into his office for a private discussion. He sat at his desk and sighed in frustration. “Mr. Mathew, I guess you have no idea what’s going on here. I need to explain the situation to you.”
I blew an annoyed breath away. “Okay, please go on.”
He smiled lightly. “As you can see, she is a very rebellious and troubled girl. She keeps fighting like a boy every day. She almost smashed our quarterback’s bones,” he paused, gathering his thoughts.
Then he trailed off, “Do you know what’s going on with her? She has been here at this school since she was only two years old. Yes, it’s a high school now, but previously it was a kindergarten and elementary school as well. She struggled a lot to adapt. Her father only meets her once a year. The girl has mental issues even though she is incredibly smart. But there’s so much hatred inside her,” he explained, and I couldn’t deny that I felt a pang of sympathy for the girl already.
I think I got the whole picture somehow. She was born from a mistake between Alex and her mother when Alex was still a teenager.
I cut him off. “How old is she?” I asked, my curiosity piqued as I wanted to find out if my conclusion was right or wrong.
“She’s eighteen years old,” he replied, and I cursed under my breath.
I rubbed my chin thoughtfully. “Okay, then. You said… she kicked the quarterback's ass, right? Why? There must be a reason for that.” I raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Yes, after all, she was my partner's daughter. Even if he was from the human race, he was like my closest friend, a real brother, actually.
“Yes, sir… That guy was her boyfriend, and she caught him kissing another girl!” he mentioned, stating it like it was a casual occurrence. That meant the girl had a valid reason for her actions.
“So it’s not out of the blue. So why are you talking about her as if she were insane?!” I raised an eyebrow and said in an irritated tone, frustrated by the way he had described her.
“Because she always acts like a fireball. She yells, curses, and smashes things. She’s always getting into fights daily. She needs to be punished by her father, not just put into detention or expelled!” he mumbled, almost in desperation.
I nodded, beginning to understand his perspective. “Okay, then you need her to get out of school for a few days to tame the beast inside that girl?”
He chuckled at the way I phrased my words. “Something like that. A few days won’t hurt anyone. Her final exams will be after two weeks already. So… she could come back later to study and finish her last year. Could you do that, please? Seriously, I can’t control that girl anymore,” he almost pleaded, as if he had exhausted all his options to help her walk on the right path but had failed.
I shrugged my shoulders. “I guess I can do that. But one last thing. I want to meet her ex-boyfriend first.”
It wasn’t a condition, but I wanted to hear the other side of the story from the guy, and honestly, I was curious to meet him.
He nodded mutely, then called for his office boy. A minute later, the office boy entered after knocking politely on the office door.
“Yes, sir,” he said to the principal.
“Bring me our quarterback Jake now, please,” he commanded the boy, who left immediately. I waited for a few more minutes until a huge, muscled guy, almost as tall as a tree, with pale skin and blue eyes, stepped inside. He had a broken hand and some bruises on his face.
I blurted out, dumbfounded, “Don’t tell me that Viola did all of that to that huge guy?!”
Jake freaked out just by hearing her name. “Yes, and please don’t mention her name in front of me ever again. She’s like a tiger. I hate her already and regret taking her as my girlfriend.”
I stood up, giving him a scrutinizing look from head to toe. “Then tell me how it started and why she did that to you?”
He gulped nervously under my intense gaze, then shifted his eyes to the principal with a worried expression.
I snapped my fingers in front of his face. “Hey, look at me! I’m talking to you. If you don’t tell me the truth now, trust me, I will sue you.” I said sternly, making it clear I meant business.
He dropped his jaw in surprise. “Huh? For what?! I should sue her for ruining my life as the best football player!” he exclaimed in a violent tone, and I hated him immediately. I could tell that the girl hadn’t done anything wrong. He looked like an egotistical playboy to me.
Before I could say anything else, Viola barged into the office without even knocking. Jake rushed to hide himself behind my back. “Viola, don’t touch me!”
She crossed her arms over her chest, glaring at him. “You fucking piece of shit! Did you tell the principal that I broke your arms because you cheated on me? Seriously!” she hollered at him, her voice full of fire.
“Viola, watch your mouth!” I said firmly, gazing at her.
She smirked defiantly. “And who the hell are you?”
“I’m Mathew York, your father's best friend and partner,” I replied slowly, trying to maintain control of the situation.
She laughed hysterically, her anger bubbling to the surface. “I see! Do I even have a father? He didn’t even care to come and meet me.”
I ignored her for the moment because I wanted to end all this chaos. I had been flying for more than ten hours already, and they were starting to give me a strong headache. I turned my head to the guy. “Now! Tell me what happened, and don’t lie, or I swear to God I will ruin your life. You still don’t know me well.” I threatened him, hoping to gain his attention.
He widened his eyes, seemingly impressed, and the guy cleared his throat, lowering his gaze to the floor. “Okay, I lied. I snuck into her room at night and asked her to sleep with me… um… as lovers.”
I pushed the guy against the wall and nearly strangled his neck. “So you wanted her to satisfy your lustful needs! You wanted to fuck her!” I growled, my anger boiling over.
He struggled to breathe. “No, I’ve been in a relationship with her for more than two years. I thought it was the right time to lose her virginity. She is eighteen for God’s sake!”
Viola placed her hands on mine, pulling me back gently. “Leave him, please,” she said in a broken, low voice that tugged at my heart.
I glanced over my shoulder, deeply into her eyes, and saw the most beautiful green eyes I had ever encountered! She was so pale with those striking green eyes and dark black hair?! What the hell! I guessed her mother must have been a stunning woman. But it wasn’t just that. I could see the unshed tears in her eyes. That girl played tough, but deep inside, she was fragile.
But no one knew that. She hid her true feelings, and it was obvious that she was lonely.
I pressed my hand even harder on the guy’s neck. “I will fucking sue you for attempting to rape her! I will ruin your life even more,” I roared, my emotions spilling over.
The principal hurried to me, pulling me away from Jake. “Please, Mr. Mathew, calm down. I will take the proper legal action against him. I didn’t know he was such a liar.”
I raised an eyebrow and pointed my finger at the principal, warning him. “You better do it, or I will make sure to put you behind bars with him. For now, I’m taking a leave, and I will take Viola with me.”
Viola stood frozen in her place, staring at me in shock. “Me? Take me where?” She blinked, confused.
I linked my arms with hers and smiled softly. “We’re going to have some fun this weekend. Just you and me.”
And I didn’t know that this would be the first heartbeat for me. I had no idea that this rebellious girl would rock my world and conquer my stone heart with her fragile smile.

Prince Mathew.
I walked with Viola out of the principal's office, and my guards were waiting for me just outside the door. “So, Miss Viola, are you ready to go? Do you need to grab anything from your room before we leave?” I asked, trying to maintain a formal tone.
I still didn’t quite know how to talk to her. She wasn’t a businesswoman, nor was she a fully grown woman yet. But she certainly wasn’t just a little girl either.
Viola giggled lightly, a sound that felt refreshing. “So formal! Please just call me Viola, and I’ll call you Mathew. And yes, I do need to head to my room immediately to pack my clothes into a small bag, and…”
I cut her off, wanting to take control. “You won’t need to pack clothes. We will go shopping, and I’ll buy you anything you want. What else do you need?”
She raised an eyebrow, looking a bit incredulous. “Buy things for me? Why would you do that?”
I shrugged my shoulders, trying to sound nonchalant. “Because you are my partner’s daughter?” I wasn’t sure if I was telling her or asking myself.
Money wasn’t a big deal for me at all; spending thousands of dollars on a shopping spree was actually quite normal in my world.
She pointed a finger at my nose in a teasing manner. “Yes, just one more thing. Don’t fall in love with me.” She winked at me playfully.
I froze in place, shocked by her boldness. Was she kidding? I would never fall for my partner’s daughter! And most of all, I would never fall for a human girl. Or maybe I would?!
My mind began to drift off, and she snapped her fingers in front of my face. “Hey! Come back to Earth, Mr. Mathew. I was just kidding! Actually, I wouldn’t mind falling for a hot, handsome man like you.” She licked the corner of her mouth in a way that sent my heart racing.
I widened my eyes in disbelief, then cupped her jaw firmly yet gently. “Don’t talk like that! You are not a whore. Got it?” I said sternly, my voice grating.
She blinked, taken aback, then nodded her head politely. “Yes, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you.” She apologized immediately, her tone sincere.
I turned my head away from her, trying to regain my composure. “Now let’s go back to your room. I need to get some things from there,” I said, and she gasped. “You want to get stuff from my room?!”
I blurted out firmly, grabbing her hands as I spoke. “Yes, now show me your room.”
She silently obeyed and walked with me, her steps light and almost hesitant. Until we reached her room, I took a quick glance around, observing her space. I took a short glimpse here and there until I finally found what I wanted. I walked to her desk and grabbed the pictures scattered across it. “Now you need to burn all of your ex-boyfriend’s pictures and stuff. Are you still in love with him?” I asked her, genuinely curious.
I had no idea why I wanted her to end everything and leave no trace of her past relationship. Something deep within me was pushing me toward this decision.
She spoke with a mix of confidence and disdain, her words coming out sharply. “That trash?! I wasn’t in love with him, and I have never fallen in love before with anyone. I even hated my father.”
I raised my head, gazing at her plainly, wanting to understand her better. “Then why the hell did you…?”
She sighed, her frustration evident. “I was desperate and feeling so lonely. I just wanted someone by my side to care about me, that’s all,” she said, lowering her gaze to the floor, her voice tinged with sadness.
Her voice, her facial expressions, and even her body language were new to me and attracted me like a magnet. They made me drown deeply into her green eyes, as if I had never seen such captivating green eyes before.
And yes, the girl was undeniably hot. Her body was perfectly shaped, but I didn’t want to look at her that way at all. She was my partner’s daughter, for God’s sake! So, I was practically like her uncle, or something like that. Even though the age gap between us wasn’t huge, she still felt like a little girl to me. I would never touch her or even think of her in that way.
Fuck! What was I even thinking about?! Why was I thinking of her in such a way?
She pushed her hands into my jacket, startling me a bit. “What are you doing?”
She blinked innocently. “I’m searching for a lighter to burn the pictures!”
I nodded, trying to keep my composure. “Um, okay… My men will do it. Now let’s go.”
She smiled and mouthed silently, ‘Thank you, Mathew.’
I smiled back, feeling a warmth spread through me, and placed my arm over her back as we walked out of her room. I was about to spend my next couple of days in my hotel with a girl I had just met.
I had never taken care of anyone before, and now I was supposed to tame this girl and look after her!
We reached my limo, and before we could get into the back seat, I noticed Jake standing far away, staring at Viola as if he wanted to devour a piece of her.
That guy looked deeply in love with her, and I had to wonder why he had tried to force her for sex if he felt that way.
I decided to tease Jake by opening the door for Viola and leaned closer to her, murmuring, “I guess he is so jealous because you are leaving with me.”
She turned her head nonchalantly to my neck, causing me to shiver from the strong, adorable scent of her body, which was mixed with my favorite perfume. “So, don’t fall for me like him. He’s obsessed with me.”
I gulped nervously at her words, and she got inside the back seat, gazing back at Jake, who was huffing and puffing angrily. He was still glaring at Viola and me, his expression filled with rage.
I guessed she was kind of right about Jake. But why did she feel the need to warn me for the second time in less than fifteen minutes? Why was she so sure of her strong appeal over other men? Well, she had no idea whom she was dealing with! I wasn’t into love at all.
And that’s why, as soon as the driver started the limo, I said, “I’m not in love at all. Don’t worry.”
She smirked sheepishly, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “We will see, handsome.”
