Chapter 1 I was pregnant | Whispers of Unspoken Love

Gestational age: Six weeks

When I saw the ultrasound report, I was stunned. How could I be pregnant after only one time sex?

What should I do now?

Should I tell Dean Dixon? Would he stay with me because of this? No, he would probably think I was despicable and using the child to manipulate him.

Suppressing the knot in my heart, I stuffed the ultrasound report into my bag and left the hospital.

Outside the hospital building, a shiny black Maybach stood, with one-third of the car window rolled down, revealing the cold and sharp eyes of a man sitting in the driver's seat.

Being both in a luxurious car and handsome, he naturally attracted the attention of many passersby.

Dean was rich and handsome. After so many years, I had become accustomed to it and ignored the gazes of the onlookers as I got into the passenger seat.

Dean, who had been resting his eyes, noticed the movement, slightly furrowed his brows, and without opening his eyes, he spoke in a deep voice, "Is everything taken care of?"

"Yes." I nodded and handed him the contract signed with the hospital, saying, "Director Howard asked me to send his regards to you." Today, I came here to sign the contract, and on the way here, I happened to run into Dean. He offered me a ride.

"You will be in charge of the entire process of this case." Dean, known for being taciturn, didn't get the contract and casually gave instructions before starting the car.

I nodded, keeping silent.

It seemed like I couldn't do anything except obey orders and work.

The car headed towards the city center, and it was already evening. He didn't return to the villa, so where was he planning to go? Although I was curious in my heart, I never actively asked him about his affairs, so I remained silent.

Thinking about the ultrasound report, I didn't know how to bring it up to him. Glancing at him, I saw his eyes focused on the road ahead, sharp and still as cold as ever.

"Dean." I opened my mouth, holding onto the bag with slightly sweaty palms, probably due to nervousness.

"What?" He answered with a cold word.

He always treated me like this, and over time, I have come to accept it. Suppressing the uneasiness in my heart, I took a deep breath and said, "I..."

I hadn't finished speaking when his phone rang, and those words were forcibly swallowed back.

"Kristen, what's wrong?" His tenderness was destined to be bestowed upon only her. Either deep affection or sheer joy, it would ultimately be given to only her.

Dean was only gentle with Kristen, as I could tell by listening to his conversation with Kristen.

I didn't know what Kristen said on the phone, but Dean suddenly hit the brakes and reassured her over the phone, "Okay. I'll come over later. Don't wander around."

After hanging up the phone, he regained his stern expression and looked at me, saying, "Get out of my car."

A command without any room for discussion.

This wasn't the first time, so I nodded and swallowed all my words, opened the car door, and got off.

My marriage with Dean was unexpected yet destined. However, it had nothing to do with love. Dean had reserved a place in his heart for Kristen, and I was merely a decoration or obstacle.

Two years ago, Dean's father had a heart attack. From his sickbed, he forced Dean to marry me. Although Dean was unwilling, he complied with his father's wishes and married me. With his father supporting me for the past two years, Dean ignored me. Now that his father had passed away, he was eagerly seeking a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement, waiting for me to sign it.

Returning to the villa, it was already dark. The house felt empty like a haunted house. Perhaps due to pregnancy, I had no appetite and went straight to the bedroom to take a shower and sleep.

Half-asleep, I faintly heard the sound of a car engine turning off in the yard.

Did Dean return?

He didn't stay with Kristen?

Chapter 2 Can You Stay? | Whispers of Unspoken Love

Without much thought, I saw the bedroom door being opened. He was soaking wet and didn't even look at me before going straight into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of rushing water could be heard.

With him coming in, I couldn't continue sleeping. I got up, put on my clothes, took out his pajamas from the wardrobe, and placed them at the entrance of the bathroom. Then, I went to the balcony.

It was already the rainy season, and it was drizzling outside. The sky had turned dark, and I could faintly hear the sound of raindrops hitting the tiles.

I heard some movement behind me, so I turned around and saw Dean coming out of the bathroom. He had a towel wrapped around his waist, his hair damp, and water droplets were falling from his well-built body. He was so attractive.

Perhaps sensing that I was looking at him, he looked at me, and his handsome eyebrows slightly furrowed. He said, "Come here."

I was obedient. I walked over to his side. He threw the towel in his hand at me and spoke in a low voice, "Help me wipe my hair."

He had always been like this, and I was already used to it. He sat on the edge of the bed, and I climbed onto the bed, half kneeling behind him to wipe his hair.

"Tomorrow is grandpa's funeral. We should go to the old house early." I spoke, not intending to engage with him, but he was always focused on Kristen. If I didn't mention it, he would probably have forgotten.

"Okay," he replied with one word and said nothing else.

Knowing that he did not want to communicate with me much, I didn't say much either. After drying his hair, I lay down on the bed again, ready to sleep.

Maybe it was because of pregnancy, I always felt very tired. Usually, Dean would stay in the study until midnight after taking a shower. I didn't know why this night he changed his pajamas and lay down.

Although it was strange, I didn't ask him. He suddenly hugged me and pulled me into his arms, then planted kisses on me.

He pulled off my pajamas, and I panicked for a moment, forcefully stopping his hand that was touching me, raising my eyes to look at him in confusion.

"Dean, I..."

"You don't want?" he asked, his eyes cold and wild.

I lowered my gaze, unwilling but unable to resist.

The phone on the bedside table rang, and it was from Dean. I glanced at the clock on the wall, and it was already 11 o'clock.

Only Kristen would call Dean at this hour.

The sound of water stopped in the bathroom, and Dean came out with a towel wrapped around his body, wiped his hands, and answered the call. I didn't know what was being said on the phone.

Seeing Dean slightly furrowing his brows, he spoke, "Kristen, be good."

After saying that, he hung up the phone and prepared to change clothes and leave. In the past, I would have pretended not to see, but this time I grabbed Dean and pleaded softly, "Can you stay tonight?"

Dean frowned, a hint of coldness and displeasure appearing on his handsome face. "I was just being nice to you, and you start to forget who you are?"

His words were sarcastic.

I was taken aback and couldn't help but find it amusing. I looked up at him and said, "Tomorrow is our grandfather's funeral. Even if you can't let go of her, shouldn't you have some restraint?"

"Threatening me?" He narrowed his eyes, suddenly gripping my lower jaw tightly. His voice was low and chilling, "Lisa, you've grown some guts."
